My Dear Nike.

If God had not called you home to dwell in His Kingdom, oh we would have been celebrating your birthday today.

If wishes were horses indeed.
I regret that I never had the opportunity to celebrate this your great day with you.

It is painful that my plans for a big surprise birthday for you today never materialised

The Almighty Lord knew why our journey together had to end the way it did.
You have gone to live where no pain, no sorrow exist but l still miss you.

Your left us with lots of unfulfilled dreams and wishes, which has left me devastated

Day in day out my thoughts are on God's ways and the efficacy of prayers and supplications. But Good's way are not the ways of mere mortal beings like you.

Indeed, You and I had a best friend: Jesus.
We had supplications and prayers trusting in our best friend

Daddy and Mummy trusted in Jesus and called upon Him on our behalf and even gathered different pastors who prayed almost daily for us, yet you still left unceremoniously with many unfulfilled dreams.

Your death oh Nike has taken away a part of me. Now, l only wonder at what life truly is. Alas King Solomon saw it all when he said vanity upon vanity.

Nike there is no one like you.
I know you now live in a mansion up there but I celebrate you as you would have added another year to your age today.

Adenike Helen omo Adewunmi aya Adebisi mi owon, i miss you more every passing day. The absence of your peaceful mien makes me realise the worth of the peace of mind you gave me when we were together in this part of the world.
My consolation is that my belief that our Maker will give me enough reasons to move closer to Him again and grows in His ways grows everyday.
I am eagerly awaiting when we will meet again, if truly we are to see each other here after

"...We were like sheep without a shepherd. The AD had lost its lodestar for guidance and we were left on the open sea like a floundering ship. Soon, the sharks were circling.

The man who came hunting for us was President Olusegun Obasanjo, Ige’s friend for many years who became our relentless foe. He and Ige met in the late 1960s when both of them served in the government of then Colonel Adeyinka Adebayo, the second military ruler of the old West. Since then, Obasanjo had dogged Ige’s path like an evil spirit.

During his reign as military Head of State, Ige gave him a wide berth, yet Obasanjo would not disappear from Ige’s path. In 1982, it was Obasanjo’s unsolicited intervention into the crisis in the Oyo State UPN that led to the ‘Night of the Long Knives’ in Yola which almost cost Ige his job as the governor of old Oyo State. His final dalliance with Ige eventually cost Ige his life...
..When Obasanjo made up his mind to contest for the presidency, he rushed to Ige’s residence in Ibadan to seek his support. Ige declined, promising him however that they would meet on the field of electoral combat on opposing sides.
..Ige knew Obasanjo’s deep-seated hatred for our leader, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a public confession to which he devoted his book, ‘Not My Will’. What Ige did not reckon with was the unrelenting hostility of some members of Afenifere leadership to his aspiration to become the presidential flagbearer of our party, the AD, and its alliance partner, the APP.”

Akande noted that Chief Olu Falae eventually emerged the flagbearer of the alliance, but Ige led Falae’s presidential campaign in the South-West.
..Obasanjo won and yet, would not leave Ige alone. Obasanjo visited Ige three times in his Bodija home, Ibadan, after he emerged as the President-elect, pressuring him to come and take up ministerial appointment.

Ige finally agreed to serve when he was given the go-ahead by our movement Afenifere, and our party, the AD. It was late before he realised it was a kiss of death. All this made me wary of Obasanjo’s relentless dalliance. I knew him to be a faithless suitor and an unblinking philanderer on the political field. You trust him at your own peril..."

Omofemi, is an international artist who hails from Edo south in Nigeria. He was born in the ancient city of Ibadan where his artistic talent sprang to life and received the nourishment of older artists. Omofemi shared his early life with his grandpa who was a major influence on him and wanted him to become an electrician. As a child, Omofemi loved to display his creativity through infantile drawings on the floor. He dazzled his older neighbour with such displays that a woman once predicted his future artistic accomplishments. He not only experienced a measure of hardship in his childhood, but also faced lonely spells. These further helped to deepen his artistic vision and provided sources of materials for his creativity. Nostalgically, Omofemi’s childhood experiences in the inner streets of Ibadan helped shape his artist vision. However, he spent part of his childhood in Edo state Nigeria when his mother was estranged. She took him to Etsako, Agenebode – a fishing community in a costal region. Here, he lived as a fishmonger. Omofemi’s mother, together with young Omofemi, later reunited with his grandpa. Still seething with creative energy, he was registered at a primary school. He later went to live with his paternal grandpa who taught him to have a strong attitude about life. At his early years, Omofemi was propelled to hawk beer; while doing this, he used a part of his earnings to buy drawing books in order to kickstart his artistic career. He later acquired a wheelbarrow to facilitate his beer business. The hustle and bustle of Ibadan metropolis, especially the popular Dugbe Market, were factors that imbued him with creative impulses, and fired his artistic imagination. He later met an artist, from whom he acquired some first-hand informal artistic skills. Omofemi was later recognized as one of the best artsts at his Junior Secondary School – Community Grammar School, Mokola, Ibadan. Tope Fatunbi was the first professional artist who helped clear the path for omofemi’s artistic career. He has had a teaching stint, and likes dancing, meeting people as well as playing football. He once opened a Kiosk for the display of his miniatures. Interestingly, the name ‘Oluwole’ was given to him by his grandpa; it is a Yorùbá word that literally means, ‘God has paid us a visit.’ This is because his grandpa had always believed Omofemi would be his heir. His strength as an artist lies in showcasing human figures; and this is a skill he has steadily honed on the professional turf. His chosen media are oil and acrylic with preference for oil. Omofemi’s first arts exhibition was at the National Museum, Ibadan, Nigeria. Alliance Françé, Ibadan, has also hosted his exhibition. His other exhibitions include the ones at some prestigious galleries in Lagos, Italy, Belgium and Ghana. He has had one solo exhibition to his credit. For him, African Art has more depth since it is often a portrayal of sometime complex personal experiences. His mind continues to resonate with childhood experiences that proved material for his arts. He believes art has a functional role in society to correct vices, to reveal the messages in the mind of the artist, and as a record of the past. He received his Higher National Diploma from the Polytechnic of Ibadan, where he was also recognized as one of the best graduating students of the year. As a visionary, Omofemi has always wanted to deploy arts to better the lot of the underprivileged, to showcase African fashion and feminine charm, and to bring about the rediscovery of afrocentric pride. His works are widely collected in Nigeria and abroad.
