Anigozanthos are famed for their long, slender fuzzy fun-flowers that resemble kangaroo paws. Their unique shape, along with its native homeland of Western Australia, are the inspirations behind the common names kangaroo paw, tall kangaroo paw, cat’s paw and Australian sword lily. The grainy hairs growing around kangaroo paw flowers + stalks along with weather conditions (the cooler the more intense the hue) determine their ultimate color. Because of their novel shape, kangaroo paws are used to symbolize uniqueness & individuality. 🦘🩷🦘
