Looking forward to Yangebeats 2nd Birthday. I am going to play some music.

Our next announcement is Levitt Martin aka Tymarl.
We literally found this guy on his own in the queue to see John 00 Fleming in 2019. Despite our best efforts, we’ve not been able to get rid of him…
He claimed to be able to DJ but we weren’t so sure. Luckily for him we needed an opening DJ for the first Yangebeats so we decided to take a punt and let him play…Luckily for us it wasn’t an absolute train wreck and we’ve generally kept him on the lineups (albeit an early slot).
Over the last years though, we’ve really seen him grow as a DJ. He’s played at bush doofs for Twisted Jah, techno gigs in the city as a resident DJ for Concept and just last month inexplicably found himself on the same lineup as his idol JOOF.
We’ve decided to reward his continuing development as a DJ by giving him another opening slot at our second birthday…

Q) Your Favourite Yangebeats gig?
A) The Boat party, the vibe that night was next level and it was also the only time I’ve broken the 124bpm barrier for Yangebeats at a live event.
Q) Armin or Ferry?
A) 2002 Armin.
Q) What have you planned for the 2nd birthday?
A) I won’t know until the day. I like to surprise myself.
Q) What is the best track played at a Yangebeats gig outside your set?
A) When Chris Hynds played The Digital Blonde - Weeping Willow (Facade Remix). I’d always wanted to hear that track live and Chris kindly gave me that experience.
Q) What was a “not so fun” thing that happened to you while DJing?
A) Forgetting how to DJ just as I plugged my headphones into the mixer at Twisted Minds 2020.
Also the generator running out of fuel mid set at EarthDance 2021. Scrabbling around in the rain at 1am trying to see if we could “borrow” some diesel from peoples vehicles wasn’t the one.
Q) What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you at a Yangebeats gig?
A) I’ve had to get used to Paul Larko building stuff around me whenever I play the opening set at a Yangebeats gig. At the first one however, Paul dropped a mini laser onto the decks and knocked the CDJ that was playing into reverse mode.
Q) What gig was the most nervous for you to play at?
A) Opening the night for John 00 Fleming last month was easily the most nervous I have ever been about a set. Once I got those first couple of transitions under my belt though, it was amazing fun.
Q) Do you have a nickname that the Yangebeats lads have given you? what is it and why?
A) No, they don’t care about me enough for that.
Q) how do you best describe the Ethos of Yangebeats?
A) A group of friends that like to play music sometimes causes people to dance.

A) Sash…these blaggers are pants!

A) Kevin’s Dad.
Q) What’s the most bizarre gig you’ve played? Why was it so bizarre?
A) Any of the sets I played for Public Tranceport at Blazing Swan‘21. It was a pure survival mission just to make it through each day, let alone DJ. Add to that the optional clothing the audience were wearing and people trying to feed me meat during my set…it all made for a rather surreal experience!!
