Friends, I had the great pleasure to see Jazz Legacy Project in action last night. And it was a double win because I also got to see our Presenter member Ashley (The Whiskey Room at KINGS) as she is the one who booked JLP as a result of ArtsConversation23. YAY!
The show was great! Justin offers great insights between songs. And to say the band is fantastic... well, understatement. They made Coltrane accessible. As a jazz nerd myself, I know that is a challenging feat.
And let me not forget the fabulous opening group Justin brought along (and played drums for), The Teafolk Trio. Not only were these 16 & 17 yr olds great players, they are part of the summer camp Justin works with. Collison of art, education, and mentorship. My favorite intersection.
If you need a jazz show, call Justin!

ADMIRAL RADIO 📻
Inspired by the prior life of their 1941 wooden Admiral Radio, South-Carolina based duo Coty Hoover and Becca Smith create a unique Americana blend rooted in traditional styles that also touches the heartstrings of the modern-day listener. This husband-and-wife singer-songwriter team weaves threads of country, folk and roots music together to create a nostalgic sonic tapestry evoking simpler times filled with homespun comfort. After independently releasing their debut album of original music entitled Sounds Like You in 2020, the Johnny-and-June duo are now breathing new life into old-time songs that live in the public domain with their sophomore effort, Songs From The Vault, released in early 2022.

CHARLIE & THE WOLF (Dave Ragland & Mary McCallum)
Charlie and the Wolf is a charming and educational children's opera composed by the EMMY-nominated creative team Dave Ragland and Mary McCallum. It asks... What would have happened if Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker had met... and what if they gave each other music lessons?! This charming new opera celebrates uniqueness while uplifting unity, and reminds us that everyone is playing with the same notes.

WEBB WILDER

Beginning with 1986's classic debut It Came From Nashville, Webb Wilder emerged as a barnstorming hero who delivered a peculiar mix of Rockabilly, poetry, and tomfoolery. These days, some folks call Wilder's music Americana, though it is as impacted by mods and British Invaders (of the guitar-wielding kind) as it is by the Country music he's heard all his life. It's also influenced by the Blues and R&B sounds recorded by his Aunt Lillian, who founded Trumpet Records and recorded Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williamson. Paste Magazine put It Came From Nashville on their list of the "50 Best Southern Rock Albums of All Time."
