Seth Shermar Ireland
(October 30, 1998 - January 6, 2009)
Seth passed away when he was 10 years old. He sadly suffered from horrific physical abuse at the hands of his mother's boyfriend. On December 29, 2008, Seth was beaten so badly that he ended up in a coma. His mother's boyfriend had repeatedly punched him, kicked him, and stomped on his head. Seth never regained consciousness after slipping into a coma, and he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away in January 6, 2009. It was found that in the months leading up to Seth's death, there were multiple calls made to Family Services expressing concern over Seth's safety, but he was never removed from his mother's home because there was supposedly no conclusive evidence that he was being abused. Seth's mother's boyfriend was later convicted of second degree murder, and was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 15 years. Seth's mother was sentenced to six years in prison for child endangerment.
Seth was described as a sweet, loving, caring, and cheerful little boy. He enjoyed reading and going to church. Seth is greatly missed by those who loved him.
