Heartbreak 💔

Here's a PSA to always stake your amaryllis!!! Especially the heavy doubles. "Oh gee, that's holding up nicely" you'll say, "maybe it doesn't need it". Well, it doesn't...until the moment it does.

This newly opened Pink Symphony took a swan dive yesterday, before I got a chance to photograph it. She was a stunner! Gorgeous blooms and perfect foliage. She's potted back up now and when stem 2 emerges we'll make sure she gets proper support!

The last Papilio amaryllis bulb shipped out today! Next season we'll be bringing in at least double this year's number because these babies flew. Proof that the newest isn't always the bestest - this time tested variety hasn't lost its charm.

Do you even have an amaryllis collection if it doesn't include Papilio?!

Vovos tulips are what flower lovers' dreams are made of 💜🩷💛

From the color to the form, there's just nothing else quite like them.

Freshly opened blooms are in the first four slides, where you can see their rich plum, mauve, and copper colors. The last few slides show older blooms that have faded to soft apricot, and silvery lavender.

Potted bulbs are our main gig but we had some extra Vovos bulbs and since they’re so special we wanted to make them available on the site as bare bulbs. There is still time to get them into the ground before it freezes - but not much - so we’ve lowered the price to get them into as many gardens as possible this fall

If you haven’t got outdoor space for planting, we also offer a potted version of Vovos for growing indoors. These are currently getting their “fake winter” and will be ready to begin shipping in January.

A big big bulb...

For most amaryllis bulbs, it's the bigger the better if you want the best performance, but there are some exceptions to that rule. For smaller-flowering varieties like those in the Sonatini class, a top sized bulb will be MUCH smaller than this, and still knock your socks off with loads of blooms!

B&B has been very VERY bad at social media this season, but this beauty popped open yesterday and provided some motivation to get back on here and share!

This is ‘Tika Salsa’, from the Tika double amaryllis series from the breeding program at AgroFloral Peru. These are new to the US market this year, and we’ve got a whopping SIXTEEN gorgeous varieties from the series!

If you’re wondering, the word “Tika” means “flower” in Quechua, a language spoken by indigenous people in Chile, Peru, and Bolivia.

We’ve got some incredible amaryllis varieties available this year, as well as some exciting new potted tulips and daffs. We’ve got waxed amaryllis styles you won’t find anywhere else. We have new amaryllis collections and monthly bulb programs. All of these things would be wonderful to share regularly here on Insta, and we promise to be better about doing so! Maybe we’ll even introduce you to the faces behind the scenes at B&B (so I can stop referring to myself in the third person). We’ll see. Thanks for your patience 😘

Amaryllis aren't just Holiday flowers - they're WINTER flowers!

Dutch amaryllis bulbs hold their quality well into the winter months, and not only are we still selling, but we've just added MORE exciting new varieties to the shop!

We've got two varieties that are new to the US market this season: 'Pink Amazon' and 'Red Amazon'! Their fabulous sister 'Wild Amazon' has been around a few years, and we've got her too, so you can enjoy the entire Amazon series. These blooms are in the butterfly class, whose petals are narrower than on regular blooms but a bit wider than those in the cybister group. These varieties are very floriferous, with loads of beautiful star-shaped blossoms.

We've also added 'Lemon Cream', a recent addition to the market. She's a large flowering variety with pale yellow blooms that have a maroon picotee, and sweet ruffled edges.

Lastly we've added an old favorite, 'Gervase' (aka 'Fantasy'). She's a party in every bloom, with bold red markings that appear anywhere from subtle to POW! Every bloom is different, so she's a lot of fun to grow!

Southern hemisphere bulbs are nearing the end of their season, so we've also discounted all the Hadeco South African bulbs in the shop by 15%. That includes potted bulbs! And we're still offering free shipping on orders over $100.

Amaryllis 'Dragonfly'

Palest green, with maroon brush strokes. Look at the curves and ruffles on those petals! A perfect name, as she's as delicate and intricate as a dragonfly's wing.
