Youâre absolutely right: running your own business can feel overwhelming, especially with the endless to-do list and no one assigning clear next steps. Itâs completely normal to feel stuck.
Here are a few approaches that might helpđđť
- Daily Focus Task:
Start your day by choosing one priority task that moves your business forward. This might be something revenue-generating, like pitching or following up with leads.
- Pomodoro Method:
Set a timer for 25 minutes and work on just one task during that time. Then take a 5-minute break before starting the next âpomodoro.â Itâs great for staying focused while making progress in manageable chunks.
- Divide and Conquer:
Group your tasks into categories like marketing, client work, or business admin. Choose one category to focus on each week so it feels more manageable.
- Brain Dump & Sort:
Write out all the âwant to doâ and âneed to doâ tasks, then prioritize them using categories like âurgent,â âimportant,â and âcan wait.â This can help you stay clear on what needs immediate attention.
struggling to get clean, pro-quality lighting? you donât need a massive setupâjust these 3 essentials:
- a reliable light â we love the Godox SL150W @godox_global
- a sturdy stand â a wobbly one wonât cut it (get a metal one!)
- a diffuser â soft light makes all the difference (unless you want hard light!)

3 Ways to Make Your Artificial Light Look Like Natural Light â¨
đĄ Start with a strong light source. You need enough power to illuminate your scene completely! We love using the @godox_lighting SL150W for consistent results.
đĄ Soften your light with diffusion. Whether itâs a softbox, umbrella, or another material, diffusion is key. Bigger modifiers = softer light. Our favorite? A large umbrella for those rich, natural-looking shadows!
đĄ Position your light intentionally. The height, angle, and distance from your subject can make or break your shot. We recommend starting with back-side lighting for that beautifully natural glow.

let me tell you a little story about how I made over $72,000 in my second year just by working with local businesses.
I lived in Spokane, Washingtonâa small but growing town full of sports bars, gyms, and juice bars.
These places had passion and big dreams but lacked one thing: consistent, high-quality content. (ok maybe two, cause they also didn't have a clue about how to plan ahead!)
Thatâs where I stepped in.
I didnât just show up with my camera and take the photos they thought they needed. I helped them solve a much bigger problem: planning and executing months of content so they could focus on running their businesses.
Hereâs what I did:
Mapped out months of content with strategic shoot days.
Created campaigns for holidays, product launches, and more.
Reassured them they wouldnât have to scramble for content again.
But hereâs the real magic: I became more than a photographer. I positioned myself as a part of their teamâa trusted partner who understood their goals and helped them get ahead.
Thatâs how I turned small budgets into long-term relationships, offering incentives for ongoing work and delivering value they couldnât ignore. In return, they gave me their loyaltyâand that loyalty turned into over $72,000 in local business revenue in one year.
Small businesses do have budgets.
The key is showing them how youâll save their time, make their lives easier, and help them grow.

welcome to day 1 of our chocolate food styling series where we @rosslynmaria and @Mikyla Meckelson are going to challenge each other to shoot different chocolate items!
today, im shooting a chocolate swiss roll cake.
my original plan was an overhead flaylay shot.
i focused on:
- using repetition (circles)
- monochromatic colors (all tan and brown)
- textures and layers (parchment paper)
- storytelling (chocolate)
But as i got styling i realized i didnt love it overhead so i transitioned, restyled, and shot it as a 45 degree angle with backlighting.
what do you think?
did you find this food styling video helpful?
do you want to see more food styling videos?
Make sure to comment yes, and come back tomorrow to see what i challenged rosslyn to shoot! đ¸
