The first medal in athletics was awarded by Despina Charalambous in the 18th Games of Small States of Europe. The Cypriot champion with a jump of 1.77 gave the track the first silver medal. Charalambous reached the limit for the European Championship of her age, as she had a very good jump in her third attempt at 1.80.
Subsequently, Cyprus won a second medal in athletics, which gave us the height of women with Styliana Ioannidou. The Cypriot champion took third place with a jump of 1.74.
From there on, Konstantinos Christou easily qualified for the final in the 400m, taking 2nd place and getting the ticket to qualify for the final. A little earlier, Andreas Dimitriadis participated in the first qualifying round, who took the fourth place and qualified for the final with a better performance of 49.70.
The qualifying tickets for tomorrow's final were also secured by Andreas Chatzitheori and Stavros Augustinou in the men's 100m. Stavros Augustinou, who participated in the first qualifying round, won his turn with 10.98 and advanced to tomorrow's final. In the second qualifying round, Andreas Chatzitheori easily prevailed, who finished in 10.82 and will also be in the 100-meter final tomorrow.
