♟♟We have a monumental event coming up!!♟♟

In collaboration with the Highland Park Chess Club, Masterpiece Chess Club, and OnePint Chess...we bring you...the 2024 Winter Championship! This night will be one of our biggest events of the year. There will be a Blitz Tournament with over $600 (minimum) dealt out in cash winnings, a raffle with lots of cool chess related prizes, several live music acts (acoustic acts, so not to disturb the games), and extremely affordable food and drinks. This special event will be held at a new venue “The Pasadena Bridge Club”. Shoutout to this private club for letting us use their excellent space! One of the best things about this new location is the separate room— one we can dedicate to tournament play. In the main room, we will have lots of space for casual games, the bar, and the stage. The raffle and awards ceremony will be held after the winners of the tournament have been determined.
While there will be a big tournament, there will still be a lively casual chess scene for those not interested in tournament play.... as well as several fantastic live music acts and a raffle! Oh, and there is tons of free and super convenient parking at this location. The chess social team is very excited about this event, and we hope to see you there!!

Tournament Details: Part 1
Who will take home the Biannual Championship Trophy and a few hundred buckaroos?? Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st through 5th place….with trophies for 1st through 3rd place. If you are interested in the participating in the (optional) blitz tournament, please arrive before 8pm to check in. Additionally, if you register in advance, there will be a 25% discount on the tournament entry fee [only for tournament participants].
Registration is now open via our website and linktree (listed in bio). We are so pleased that the Pasadena Bridge Club is sharing their space with us, it is absolutely perfect to serve the competitive scene.  ♟ The format and other details to follow...stay tuned!!

For those interested in the (optional) blitz tournament, please arrive between 7:00pm and 8:00pm to register in person with our tournament coordinators Bryan Rivera and UCR Chess Club Staff Advisor Jeremy Alexander.
We are aiming to start the tournament at 8:00pm.
For the tournament there will be an additional $10 registration fee.
All registration fees and club allocated funds will be used for cash prizes (for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place)
