Operation: Fill The Truck Update - Happy Monday! This will be a quick update as we are all hands-on deck this morning here at Swatara Township! We are still accepting donations through approximately 5:00 PM here at the municipal building. We will provide an update later today, if possible, but we wanted to let everyone know we are still accepting donations. Monetary donations are still welcome as well and can be sent via Venmo, or a check to Swatara Township (Disaster Relief in the memo section please). Last minute items still needed would be plastic storage totes, tarps, plastic sheeting, shovels, rakes, etc. Anything and everything helps!! Thank you all again and God Bless you for your support and donations! Good things are coming to the families in the South!! Stay tuned!!

Operation: Fill The Truck (Sunday Morning Update) - Wow!!!! The support from our community has been truly overwhelming and nothing short of a miracle!! You have shared our posts, dropped off donations, sent us money to support the families, and rallied around one another to support complete strangers!! That is exactly what True Americans are, by helping their neighbor in a time of need. With all of that I say Thank You from the bottom of my heart. However, today is Sunday and we aren’t done yet. We are still looking to add more requested and needed items. If you are looking to help and weren’t sure what to purchase, here are a few new items that we have added along with our previous listed items. The families are looking for storage containers so as they go through their homes to salvage items, they could put them in plastic storage totes. I have seen these for around $10-$15 each at Home Depot, and they are stackable. They are asking for solar showers, brooms, laundry baskets, gas cans, plastic sheeting, tarps, chain saws, chain saw bar oil, and fuel for the saws. They are also in need of zip lock bags and sharpies. These added items are some that would help with home repairs for homes that weren’t perhaps a complete loss, but ones that repairs could be made and people can get into. If you are looking to make a larger size purchase, we would love to take a few NEW chain saws down and possibly a generator or two, and find specific families that could use them. I will post the original list below and also my Venmo. If you would like to make a check to assist us, please do so to Swatara Township, and in the memo section note Disaster Relief Efforts. Thank you all so very much for your love, support, and dedication to helping those families that have lived a true nightmare and lost everything.

Last note, we are collecting throughout the weekend at the Swatara Township Municipal Building, 599 Eisenhower Blvd, Harrisburg. Please leave items near the red box located to the side of the main entry doors. Our Police Department has been bringing the items in all weekend for us. We will be collecting through about 6:00 pm tomorrow evening and then have to unfortunately stop the collection of items, as our crew will be leaving very early Tuesday morning. If you have items, please plan to drop off before that. We will be working on sorting and palletizing all the items for better organization, for ease on the receiving locations. Operation: Fill The Truck Update!!

Good evening everyone!! I wanted to give a quick update as things are coming together day by day.

Our collection effort is well underway and we are so thankful for the donations that have come in so far to fill our truck and for the monetary donations to help support our team as they travel and stay several nights in Tennessee. We have been trying to diligently respond to all the messages we are receiving with questions about supplies. We have spoken to the folks that are coordinating operations with some of the churches in the devastated areas and have been working out our exact destinations. This is still a very fluid situation as needs are changing in the areas and with the resources that are getting delivered to these locations. This has required us to change our location several times. These relief efforts we assist with require a ton of logistical effort, but our TEAM is ready and honored to be representing Swatara Township at this relief effort. We are truly a team, and this support will only keep getting better and better with your efforts.

Please keep the donations and support coming!!!! The south needs it badly. We are unfortunately hearing horror stories of supplies being turned away and relief groups not being allowed in certain towns. BUT, we have a plan, are trained to deal with these types of situations, and will get our supplies to these families who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene. I will share the list again and also my Venmo. All funds that are being donated, specifically go to our relief efforts. All if the donations support the mission and the extra money goes to the families of those impacted by the storm. Stay tuned for new updates from us as things come together. Operation: Fill The Truck Update - Good evening everyone! First off, I wanted to thank everyone for sharing my post earlier today related to obtaining supplies to get to the families affected by Hurricane Helene. It truly takes a village to come together and help these families that have lost everything they own. We are blessed with great friends and family that are always the first ones to say they will help! 

For those of you that are not aware, back in 2016 we started with our very first event to support the families affected by the wildfires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This was then followed up by a large relief effort to Florida in 2017 and then to Lumberton, North Carolina in 2018. Both of those states had been impacted by hurricanes and sustained large loss of homes and lives. After we have received several phone calls the past several days from resources in Tennessee and asking if we would be doing a relief effort, we have activated our Response Team which will be traveling to Tennessee next week. We have been working very diligently to secure a location to be able to get our supplies into and our labor assistance to. We are working on finalizing the details and will release those as they finalize with the emergency operations centers of those areas. What we do know so far is that we will be leaving from Swatara Township municipal building early Tuesday morning and returning Friday afternoon. We will be traveling with equipment to assist with tree removal, opening roadways, cleaning out houses, providing food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc. In years past we had only traveled with supplies to assist the families impacted by the storms, but in Lumberton we assisted for several days with labor and equipment. We will be doing that again this time as we know some of these people have not been able to get to their homes, have no water or electric, and the homes they can access, have large amounts of debris in them and in them. If you are looking to help, here is what we need most as of this point:

Friends looking to help those impacted by the Hurricane, “Operation: Fill The Truck” Relief Effort has been activated and will be heading to Tennessee / North Carolina to support the families who are in need of supplies. Please follow and stay tuned for updates as they evolve over the next 24 - 48 hours. Our team is assembling the resources and planning out our locations of the impacted areas. We will be sharing the most needed items and drop off locations for the supplies as well. Our crew provided resources several years prior to Covid and is happy to announce we are reassembling our team, and will be assisting families impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Orth Entertainment is honored to be proving the entertainment today at Manada Golf Course for the Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania (VOPA) golf outing. This is our second year as a partner here for this event helping raise money for an AMAZING organization! I am alongside our partner Jack Harlacker of SkyviewAerials Harrisburg who is providing the drone and photography services. Please check out VOPA and their pledge of supporting our homeless veterans. I am blessed to have found a “home” with this organization, and so many like it! Special thanks to DJ`S Smoke Shack for providing the food for today’s event! Take a break at the Tiki Bar and relax at the Hawaiian Luau at Tiki on Thursday, 22 August from 4-9 p.m.! Put on your Hawaiian shirt and flip flops for an evening of swimming, food, music, and games.

Don't forget to bring you MWR Passport to collect your stamps for Tiki Bar. We have extended the deadline to give you a few more days to collect stamps. Once you collect 10 stamps in the passport turn the passports into the Leisure Travel Services office by Monday, 26 August 2024. Don't miss getting the passport entered for the drawing of MWR gift cards in amounts of $50, $75, and $100.

Orth Entertainment is beyond honored to be supporting our partners at Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania, at today’s Official Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Several years ago we became connected with this amazing organization who has created this village, which in just a few days, will be “Home”, to 5 currently homeless veterans. Over the next few months the next 10 veterans will fill these homes and have a new life ahead of them. I know today will be an emotional day for so many, as the ribbon is cut. We are blessed to have been a partner in providing music, audio services, and a guaranteed relationship to support in the best way we know how. Thank you all for YOUR support, as each and every event we do, helps us to be able to give back for FREE to these types of organizations. We are blessed by God, and truly blessed by all of your love!
