I had an amazing time wandering around Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical last week. If you love Christmas lights this is the place to go. The botanical gardens are illuminated by more than 750,000 LED bulbs—approximately 65 miles of lights!

This is just the beginning of the photos to come. I hope you all enjoy!

I missed the beginning of the show debating if I had time to stop what I was doing and go watch nature’s amazing show. These are just a few of the many photos, but even more importantly, I stopped shooting and worrying about composition to just be present. I’m still in awe!

I decided early Monday morning to try and capture the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. I went out to Popham, figuring it would be nice to lay out and watch it. Unfortunately I didn’t see any meteors while I was out there, and ignored what I was capturing. I now wish I had been paying closer attention. I didn’t think the Northern Lights would be that far south, but they were. These were taken with my iPhone using a 10 second shutter.

I can now cross that off my need to see bucket list, but have added in a new one for needing to see them further north.

Learning

I really wish this had been a video. The dad got up on the edge of the nest and stretched out his wings and then moved out of the way. Next the flooding has seen in the photo, followed his example. It was a site to behold.

This particular Osprey nest is the one on the old Carlton Bridge between Woolwich and Bath.
