Where were you during the 2024 North American Eclipse? Did you get to witness it? Were you in the path of totality?

I am grateful to say that I was up in Jackman, ME overlooking Attean Pond. I’m still speechless. So, hopefully some of my photos will do it some justice.

At the last minute on Saturday night we decided to go up to Jackman and to do so immediately. We arrived around 1:30am Sunday morning. Along the way we saw some snow still on the trees, but it wasn't till the morning that we were amazed to see how beautiful it was at the Overlooking Attean Pond.

We were also pleased to realize that our spontaneity paid off. What was an almost empty parking lot, was all of sudden packed all around us. We weren't prepared, as we figured we would be able to go into town in the am for supplies. But with how packed it was we didn't dare leave. Thanks to Mama Bear's Restaurant for delivering lunch to those of us that came up unprepared! They also offed to delivered breakfast sandwiches Monday morning.

There was an amazing group of individuals that came together as a community and helped each other. A good portion of the overlook was shoveled out by just a few people to make room for the remainder of the crowd that was showing up throughout the day into the next day. They lined Rte. 201 leading all the way into Jackman.

I hope you enjoy my images even a portion of how much I enjoyed taking them. It is one more of those great adventures that I love to take.

The Louisbourg Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in what was to become Canada (and the second in North America after the 1716 Boston Light). It was constructed at the French fortress of Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island in 1734, patterned after the 1682 Phare des Baleines at Saint-Clément-des-Baleines. The Louisbourg Lighthouse was destroyed by British troops during the siege of 1758, and rebuilt in 1842; the rubble of the original tower is visible at the base of the current lighthouse, which dates from 1923.

And I can’t believe the clouds! There was so much drama!

I am still trying to mentally process my adventures from this summer and have not been able to process my photos. So please continue to bear with me, since once they start flowing there hopefully won’t be an end. But as an appetizer, I would like to introduce one of my newest friends and followers Jason Lewis, photobomber extraordinaire. I was on my way home from Niagara when we stopped to get some foliage photos and while I was checking a shot he photobombed me on a dare. It was fun and I wanted to say thanks and welcome to my page!

As for the photo, I really love how one side of the tree had changed, with the other side slowly following suit.

Peekaboo, I see you…

For the past few days I have been traveling around the Atlantic Provinces of Canada. This photo was from my first evening on Prince Edward Island I met a friend. Here they are playing peekaboos with me. When I first encountered it, it was quite a ways away, but slowly continued to get closer and even pose for me several times. Here is a taste of what’s to come We have had very little cell service, so it may be a couple of days.

This is Marshall Point Lighthouse, which was featured in ‘Forest Gump.’ Unfortunately it was struck by lightening during a storm last Thursday, so there isn’t currently a lamp in the lantern room.

Thank you for all of you that follow me. For those of you who haven’t, please do. I may be slow to process and post my images and I am truly sorry for that. Please stay tuned for more of my work.

For those who are still reading this, please give me suggestions of what you would like to see. I am returning to this passion after taking off almost 20 years, so I am also relearning the art and technical settings for the various purposes, so all of the various subjects allow me to practice

Again, thank you for supporting my work by reacting tagging oriole in the comments, or sharing it. Every little bit helps! Also please click follow on my page.

Did you know that for a few years early in its existence, the Statue of Liberty was also officially a lighthouse operated under the authority of the Lighthouse Board? The lighted torch in Lady Liberty’s right hand had, and still has, great symbolic significance, but at its beginning, it was also used as a navigational aid for ships entering New York Harbor.

Hello everyone! I’m back!. I’ve been out taking lots of photos, but my computer is down, leaving me to process them on my iPad.
This month I took a road-trip to NYC for a couple of days. I wasn’t able to get out much due to becoming I’ll, but I hope you enjoy what I was able to capture.
For my first post, this is Fort Wadsworth Lighthouse on Staten Island. The current lighthouse structure, which sits atop Fort Wadsworth’s Battery W**d, was first lit on May 11, 1903. It was restored and relit on September 24, 2005.

Hendricks Head Lighthouse, as seen through the sea smoke on Feb. 4th from Five Islands Lobster Co. This is a reaction of the drastic drop in temp, causing the air to be much colder than the water. It causes this appearance of the water steaming up after boiling. This was my first time witnessing it in person and I had so much fun. Although you need to be very careful to not get frostbite. The air felt like it is was about -40 degrees F.
