I have discovered a very common trait between Santa Claus and Bread.
🎅🏼+ 🥖= 🎁
Every time I put on Santa attire (almost daily) I carry the promise to highlight the present moment in our daily lives with everyone I encounter. It’s easy to get caught up on what happened in the past and what might happen in the future. But the beauty of Santa is the power it brings to the present moment. People stop in their tracks and connect, immediately, and we freeze or embrace or smile, all in the matter of seconds. Present moment living at its finest. I love love love my random Santa encounters around our community.
Every time I make bread (almost daily) I always get lost in the present moment of the process. From the prep to the mixing to rising and most importantly the injection of love right before I put it in the oven. The beauty is that baking requires you to slow down, live by the clock, the minutes tick by as the top becomes a golden hue of deliciousness. But all at the pace of the present moment, which you can’t rush or start early. If you do, your loaf will be no good, and let’s face it, no one wants “no good” bread.
I was lucky enough to be creative in both worlds today.
🥖Three loaves, all designs I’m going to continue refining and testing. I love how all three turned out. Focusing a lot of sizing, portions, density, etc.
🎅🏼 I was fortunate enough to step into the Santa spirit today and work on some photos for the upcoming season. Right now my focus continues to be the best Santa possible and see how far I can stretch it. I am having conversations that I started thinking about 2-3 years ago, but patiently waited and worked on my Santa persona. As hard as it was to be patient as a brand new rookie Santa, I’m
glad I did…it’s much easier now that I’ve had some wonderful experiences.
🎁 The best presents aren’t found under the tree on Christmas morning…they are the gift that keeps on giving, the love of our friends and family in a present moment setting, whether it’s around the kitchen table or under the tree. The skill of being present as much as possible allows us the chance to take into consideration multiple perspectives.
