Do you know the law regarding towing a trailer?
Whether you’re a seasoned trailer bar owner or new to the industry (Like Me Hello 👋🏻) I often see this question in Forums and Social Media Groups asking about the legislation relating to towing.
I’ve put together a little carousel of what was before and what changed at the end of 2021. The main takeaways are to check your Gross Train Weight (GTW) and still get some training if you can 👍🏻 Link in comments!
Feel free to like, share or comment. And let me know if you’ve found this accurate and useful 🙂👍🏻
Happy Towing 🐴📦

A day of firsts yesterday. First use of spray paint after a bit of rust removal to spray some of the finer details on show. And first use of grinder to remove some rusty bolts from the spare wheel attachment. (I am looking for a new one of those if anyone has one)
Nice to see the paint covering the old rust. Made a template for the front door bar too so hoping to get that boxed off next week 🙂🙌🏻

Nothing says ‘summer’ like a lemon Fanta. 🍋☀️
Ok, I may be getting carried away with a warm weekend in May. But what better way to use a sunny Saturday than to get some painting done.
It’s been a productive day at Horsebox HQ. My optics stand is an old pallet which I’ve sanded, painted and fixed at the top and to the worktop plinth, will get another optics for that. Nice to have everything the same colour. Hopefully the good weather will see the rest of the trailer get the same treatment in the not too distant future.
Check out some progression pics. Paint colour is slate grey. Not sure why it looks a lot more blue on the back of the bar area.

Can an old shed panel be turned into a bar front part 2.
In short… No 😂 whilst it did fit the gap (no picture) there was a questionable cut I’d made in the top corner of it which left an unwanted gap.
Back to plan A making a frame and using T&G panels I had previously bought. Pictures show progression and a little snapshot of Me and the family dog showing off our handy work! From the ramp 😍🐶 also see another measuring error… to think I’m good at maths too 🤦🏼‍♂️😂 this was the first bit of the trailer I’ve attempted myself so quite pleased with how it’s turned out
Determined to get the shed panel involved somewhere. It’s inside for safe keeping. 😁

Can an old piece of shed be converted into a bar front? Part 1.
I realise I’ve been a bit quiet on the socials and being honest, the project has stalled in recent months. (Pun intended)
Removing a shed from my parents garden, I wondered if one of the panels of an almost identical length of the trailer, would make a front for the bar at the back of the trailer. Today was the first opportunity to have a go at making it possible.
Hoping to resume in a couple of days to put it in place on the trailer. Head over to my story ↖️ to see how today has gone!

Back at project HQ. Check out my story for a short video of what I’m thinking, I’m planning to box in under the bar at the back and create another serving area at the curved door. I’ve also planned to create some shelving on the wall too. I plan on taking my time over the back end of summer and the autumn and look forward to the next phase of the project. There’s also the small matter of painting it when I get a few consecutive days to do it 🙂

Back on the Road!! 🚗 🐴 📦
Feels like a milestone in the project that it’s back in the storage yard. Thanks to family for helping me to move it again!
A little insight into how it is currently looking. Now it’s back on site I can do more to the aesthetics of it and legalities with a view to getting it out next year. Have been very busy with other work commitments so it’s a nice feeling that it’s not imperative it gets done so I can take my time over the next stage. Looking to share some of the renovation stories and before and after of different sections too 🙂

I’ve been keeping this a secret for a while but delighted to finally announce that we’ve been selected as one of the bars at later this year 🥰🙌🏻 🎵 🥁🎤🎹⛺️
We also have permission to host acoustic musicians on our mini stage which has been called the ‘FOAL SO RAPIDLY’ Stage! Can’t wait 🙌🏻😉

Flooring down this week 🙌🏻
Trailer feels like it’s starting to take shape recently. After the electrics were passed, the flooring was the next step. Really pleased with how it’s turned out. Will be using this flooring on the ramps aswell 🙂.
Next stage is the internal fit of shelves and worktops. Got a rough idea of how it is going to look and excited to see what the next few weeks bring.

Thanks to Teesside Electrical Limited ⚡️for swinging by, taking the photograph 📸 and offering a hand👨🏼‍🔧 … 1 step closer, now for the rest of the internal fit 🙌🏻

Happy New Year 🥳🥳
Hope you’re all keeping well and to all my followers with a similar venture, I really hope you have all been busy over the festive period and currently enjoying a well earned rest!
Progress has been a little slow for a variety of reasons… mainly winter but also being busy with my singing sideline Marc Judd - Male Vocalist (which I’ll be offering with this conversion project) and other work. Hope to be back on with the renovation work by the end of the month. Electrics to be tested and certified and then on with the internal fit. Plan is to be up and running by the summer if not before. In the meantime here’s some pictures of the start and current state 🙂 Enjoy

Looking for a party or a get together with friends?
Book yourselves in to The Longacre - Pub, Grill & Pizza on Friday 9th December and see me perform live from 8.30 onwards. Enjoy a bite to eat and a sing and a dance. Might even Chuck in one or two Christmas songs. (By might I mean I most definitely will) 🙌🏻🎄🎤🥰

Some updates to the trailer. We now have a back in place. Back Door fixes in place and then pushes up to to act as a canopy. Needs gas struts to keep it up.
Really like the job done on the mudguard that makes it look almost brand new 🙌🏻 just purchased cladding and some other bits to go inside. Looking forward to see how the next stage progresses. Especially as we were talking pumps and taps 🙌🏻🍻

🚨📅 If you’re planning your or beyond you need to Save the date… 16th October 2022
The watering foal will be on display hopefully with performing some live music at showcase at Darlington Arena on 16th October. More details to follow soon.
In the meantime some behind the scenes work to make the dream possible. I’ve passed my personal licence course (38/40 I’m advised) and also finally got new means for towing the vehicle. Isn’t she a beauty 😍.
Who will be seeing me in Darlington? 🎵🍻👰🏼🤵🏼

Happy 10th Post 🥳
Scaffold boarding in place to give a bit of perspective of what I’m trying to do with the ramps for Stage and Serving areas… Plenty to work with as you can see 🪵
On another note, started a course with enterprise made simple on their design factory and I’ve booked my personal licence course for next week. Hope to have both complete by the end of the month and start a website for the work. 👨🏼‍💻🍻🪪
Just need to get the trailer moved to it’s renovation place now 🤔

Excellent couple of days in Munich sampling beers from the Bierkellers of the city. A place I’d highly recommend to visit if you like that mixed with a bit of culture. A lemon radler is an absolute must in 28 degrees 🙌🏻🍋🍻
Back to reality of a full time job and renovations today. Acquired some scaffolding boards which I’m hoping I can build the ramps with.
Hope you’ve all had an enjoyable bank holiday weekend 👍🏻 Oh this is me by the way ➡️👋🏻

Starting little jobs on the trailer. Success to finally get that cushioning off the ceiling (and give my knees some relief when working outside). Need to look again at the ramp hinges at the front, it’s been suggested I may have tried them the wrong way round 🙈 also need to break some nuts off as they’ve seized up. Watched YouTube videos and bought tools to do this. Little trip to IKEA for some more ideas and a link with a local business to use their jet wash on Wednesday, which is why the floorboards are up and sent an electrician some ideas. I’d say that’s a successful day overall 👍🏻

Time to introduce the other side of my ambitions with the trailer. I’m a solo singer doing the pubs and clubs and my growth area is getting weddings you can find a bit of what I do 😊
I’m performing in Newton Aycliffe this afternoon and enjoying the interior inspo for the trailer.
What would you’ll like to see in the trailer from this? Would you like to see the singing trailer at your venue?

Looking ahead to the interior and I’ve found some of this PVC cladding. My personal favourite is the hexagonal one but put other pictures on to show you all. The plan is to create a wooden frame covered in plywood with this glued over the top. I’ve tried the plywood horizontally and vertically with the former being more cost effective. An alternative is to either paint the plywood or use wooden tongue and groove instead of the boards.
Which of these would you like to see inside?
