Have you listened to our Mix of the Month series? Once a month we ask an incredible DJ in our community to create an exclusive mix. Back in December brought the house down with their Mix of the Month.

theoretic is a DJ and producer based in Brooklyn. Growing up, they got their hands on any music they could find on CD or cassette. Their parents and grandparents had a heavy influence on them and played music ranging from soul, funk, R&B, blues, rock, jazz, disco, hip hop, and more -- theoretic sequentially developed an ear for anything old school and a passion for being the "playlist DJ" for their friends all throughout their schooling.

Fast forward to 2017, theoretic decided they would take up learning to DJ on their own, and then discovered their passion for music production a couple of years later. Their love of disco, house, and techno melds together in their sound, and their main goal is to get people to dance once they feel the music pump through them straight to the heartbeat.

They currently teach Production and DJing to youth with the non-profit . They've been featured on the 2019 Women of the World Vol. 2 Mixtape. They recently just created the monthly dance party series Rhythm Nation (), where they are the resident DJ and also feature talented and innovative Black/queer/womxn, and/or gender expansive DJ artists, producers, and creatives who also believe that good music is a force for communities to come together for healing.
