RIP Terry Hall. Famously of the Specials & Fun Boy Three. Great music, which inspired a whole movement & at the forefront of the UK Ska scene in the early 80's. The tracks still sound fresh & lyrics that still resonate today.

I have been lucky enough to see the Specials & Terry Hall a few times over the years. Which now feels like an honour & privilege.

Reading these books makes you realise how lucky we were to have been involved & witness to a movement never to be seen again.

A time when overloaded sound systems churned out the latest beats & sounds to the energetic faithful. A time when DJ's didn't pose to a wall of mobile phone cameras as they smashed the crossfader back & forth. No in-key seamless melodic mixing. Just raw sounds that pierced the eardrums & kept the body moving.

Whether in a field or disused warehouse the excitement of living in the moment in sheer hedonistic madness was all too strong for those lucky enough to be there. It was a privilege.

A working Stylophone from the early 70s. Played by connecting a stylus to the metal printed circuit board with each note being connected to a voltage controlled oscillator via a different value resister & closing the circuit.

Although it's designed for children & a bit of fun it has been used in a professional capacity. David Bowie is credited with using it on his hit track 'Space Oddity' & Kraftwerk on 'Pocket Calculator' to name a few.

40 years ago today the world lost Bob Marley. One of the most iconic musicians & song writers of the last century. A true legend who's music still resonates today. One love.

Another great free party at the height of the original rave scene. This party lasted for almost 4 days.

I'm on the bottom left in the reddish top sporting a bob/wedge haircut.
