The late rapper and producer Mantani who died on July 24 at the age of 29, was laid to rest at his ancestral land of Bori in his hometown Kajokeji on Saturday afternoon, July 31.

Mantani received a state-funeral, which was attended by religious leaders, entertainers, and government officials, members of the public among other guests.

He died days after he was involved in an accident while riding from Kajokeji to Moyo, in what doctors described as head on collision.

Before his death, the late singer was a member of the popular music group Hardlife Avenue stars where he together with Nicky Prince and Linus the Genius enjoyed enormous success through hit monsters like Yau De, Am no longer single, lost culture, mederesa, ana yau arifu, jouza among other hit songs across households in the country. He left behind a daughter and a voice in his songs that music fans will cherish for a very long time.

Since we got our independence we betrayed ourselves and the nation. Most of us don't want to see peace prevail in the country, we love our tribes more than our beloved born nation🇸🇸, each tribe wants to own the country. Our fathers and mothers fought several years with the hope that we can attain justice but the strategy did succeed but instead we lost many during the struggle . In 2011 we decided to go on peaceful strategy that allowed me and some of you to participate in deciding whether to have a new nation or not but it was successful as it gave birth to this nation🇸🇸 where the biggest population is struggling to get what to eat and most essential elements of life but only few individuals or tribes are grateful in the land as the enjoy everything in this nation🇸🇸. I have failed to understand why this is happening, in 2011, I and you participated in fertilizing this land so that it can give birth to South Sudan but our hopes are discomfited.
We are in country where every tribe wants to develop there own Payams, towns, counties, states e.t.c. Working across states is seen as marginalisation of the locals since we have created a group termed as locals within the same country, if one crosses from Upper Nile to Western Equatorial State or across the other states they are called foreigners and this has led to the frequent menacing of citizens and as a result many citizens lost their jobs and lives.
Security has been left at the hands of the citizens as our guardians have turned in to perpetrators. Check points are all over in all bomas, payams e.t.c. You can't drive 30kms without a car stop check. Anyone can stop a car as long as they have the power ( Gun).
Corruption is the slogan for peace in the nation. Peace implementers want to achieve there goals rather the main objective.
Government positions have become like a group role position where any member can lead the group as decrees are the order of the day.
In the entertainment industry, citizens trusts and love foreign songs more than their own. Radio stations, Presenters, DJs and promoters e.t.c can do without Davido, Chris brown, Eddy Kenzo, Cindy, Wiz kid, fresh Kid songs e.tc.
Let unite to build a new South Sudan but not to betray 🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸
Support and love is the language but not hatred my people of🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸

According to a family member, the body will be moved from Gudele 1 at the late's house to SSCC Ground around 10:00 AM.

SOUTH SUDAN MOURNS POPULAR SONG WRITER, PRODUCER AND RAPPER ALEX MURYE AKA MANTANI.

Mantani’s death has no doubt thrown the entire country, the South Sudanese music and entertainment industry into mourning. He was one of South Sudan’s finest musicians who was loved by his colleagues and fans alike. Since the news broke on Saturday morning, South Sudanese entertainers have taken to different social media platforms to pay glowing tributes to one of their own. The Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony in his tribute to the singer described Mantani as “a distinguished and talented artiste who uses his artistic skills to address morality throughout his educative content while giving the best ever in the musical industry”.

Mantani was a rapper, singer, songwriter, recording artiste and producer from the popular music group the Hardlife Avenue Stars who was regarded as one of the pioneers who revolutionized South Sudanese music in the modern era. His showbiz career began around 2011 with his brother and singing partner Nicky Prince and the late Loginda. The group released their debut studio album Lost Culture in 2012. Their second studio album Yau De was released on 4 November 2014, earning the group a number of accolades and nominations. On 3 April 2015, the group completed their first album launch dubbed “Yau De,” establishing them as a household name in South Sudan. The band had successful tours in South Sudan and part of Uganda's West Nile Region, claiming a huge attention with their videos being played on top charts on both television and radio.

By 2013, he had won numerous awards to his career with Nicky Prince and later joined by vocalist and producer Linus the Genius in 2016. The duo and later trio released monster hits like Yaude, Dudu, Dinikinidiniki, backward, mederesa, Mr. Right, Nangiro among others.

The rapper’s death was confirmed by the Hardlife Avenue stars Management in an official statement on their page on Saturday “We regret to inform you that, our brother Mantani Ov Hardlyfe the best boy is gone to the angels after trying his best to fight the battle” the statement reads. Last week the singer was involved in an accident on Thursday while riding from Kajo keji to the Ugandan small town of Moyo in what was a head on collision with another motorcycle not far away from the border. The other person died on spot and the singer lost the battle on Saturday hours after been transferred from Lacor hospital in Gulu to Case Hospital in Kampala for further medical attention.

His body is expected to arrive Juba today from Kampala for procession and burial will be in Kajo-keji. In Juba, funeral is at his house in Gudele,After Gudele 1 opposite Nilepet.
