Well hi folks! It looks like Canberra's rain and warmer weather has brought me right out of my winter's hibernation! My weak analogy now dispensed, you lucky folks have earned an honest-to-goodness update and a shameless plug about what this humble photo nerd has been doing. You'll be delighted to learn that while I have been absent, I have not been idle! A few of my recent projects include family portraits of some spectacularly photogenic people and some event shoots.
Today's update brings us back to one of these events from August, where I was lucky enough to work with Canberra Potters for my second year running for their annual Fired Up! Festival. For those of you who don't know it, this event is a properly magical evening for everyone and the talent and artistry on display is always incredible. Here are a few of my snaps from the night. Included in this reel are some fantastic local Canberran entertainers and artists (if this is you, shoot me a message so I can credit you properly!)

Learning caps on folks, cos today we're learning about birds with me, Regan (who knows very little about birds, but thinks they are pretty neat) and who found some beaked buddies enjoying some time on a branch at Yerrabi Pond.
We've got: the little pied cormorant, little black cormorant, and Australasian darter. Call the police on me immediately if I got any of these names wrong.

I've had the notion for a while that I'd like to make short, simple vignettes about some of my local surrounds. Yesterday, I took my camera with me to the top of One Tree Hill in Hall to put together this video: a reminder to myself to go slowly, give myself time to enjoy my own company, and notice what's going on in the world around me. Put in some earphones and enjoy a micro-holiday. Hoping to film more like this in weeks to come.
