Everyone is entitled to a ‘poetic life’.’ That’s the way they put it. With this ideal in mind, ABC uses the artistic process as a step towards dialogue, and as a reflective tool for young and old to use as support in integrating art into everyday life. To open up the season we have something special prepared for you. 𝗕𝗷𝗲𝗼𝗿 will play a special set for the occasion and slow down his regular tempo. Last Sunday we proved how unstrained a Sunday can be. Casually having brunch, spinning pottery and playing some music. Everybody could come and go, play and listen, sit and hang, chill and chat, ... Just as we like it. Thank you for that, thank you for coming & joining. 🙏

Well, it's fair to say that it's an honor that we can do this event at this iconic place. We like to thank Kiosk for having us, but mostly for what they did in the past few years, from supporting known to unknown artists, and maybe now not so unknown any more, organizing their crazy and crazy cozy woodblock sessions, to having the Morning Show that inspired and inspires Matinée in a lot of ways. What Kiosk has become is incredible, but Kiosk is still what it always was and that's maybe even more incredible.

Here’s a little appreciation post and photo dump of the last 4 Matinée editions at FACE B, Horst, Mercerie and L'Estaminet 1030. We've been busy and a little bit all over the place. It's not always easy to voluntarily organize an event with this frequency and combine it with our personal lives, but you guys always make it worthwhile. So like that, we will keep on organizing these beautiful Sunday gatherings as long as you keep showing up. Thank you for that.

But maybe the biggest thank you goes to the most wholesome team of volunteers and all the artists that joined Matinée. We can not emphasize it enough, but without you this would not be possible.

We kick off the summer by spoiling you with an absolutely beautiful line-up, if we do say so ourselves. Cherishing the peacefulness of the garden of Estaminet, we invited all these mesmerizing artists. We're not gonna bother you with an extensive explanation of every artist, you can trust us, you're in for a treat. But make sure to come early for Cardboard Lamb, who invited Sofi Naufal for the occasion, because their combination of poetry, musical storytelling and live music, will be the best Sunday morning rise you had in a while. 💚❤️

You can hardly believe it standing on the busy Haachtsesteenweg, but we promise you a green paradise behind the gate. The end of this month Matinée is celebrating its first birthday, and it is absolutely crazy what it has become in this short period of time. That’s why we’re beyond greatful to everybody that made Matinée to what it’s today. But you know what’s maybe even crazier?

That we'll be hosting the morning stage at the campsite of Horst! Very honored and pleased to be part of, in our opinion, one of the greatest festivals our country has to offer. So come and join us and these lovely people, if you're staying at the much-celebrated Horst campsite. ☀

Unfortunately, this means that there'll not be a Matinée event at the end of April. We'll be back in Brussels Sunday the 28th of May, so save the date because we'd love to see you there as well. 💛

What an absolutely beautiful edition! Just when we started to think we were overloading you with Sunday events, you all show up on a rainy day in Etterbeek right after the summer time change. You keep showing up. There is not much more to say than, we love you.

Endless gratitude to Dauwtrip, Pilar, all the volunteers and artists, Cedric, our head chef, and of course, you.

We can only look back at last year with endless gratitude. We won’t say too much since you’re probably bored of all these end of the year thankyou-messages by now. Why we compiled a list of ambient releases that we loved this year (because you aren’t bored of that right?). Perfect for this drizzling weather and to get you through the rest of the winter.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers, artists and locations for having us! But most of all to everyone who passed by, or even felt like passing by but doesn't have such a good relationship with Sunday mornings. If there is something we've proven the past year, it is that Sunday mornings don't bite. They are quite all right actually. Definitely with company like yours.

Mark the 26th of February in your calendar already, because we can’t wait to spend Sundays with you again and got some beautiful things prepared, if we do say so ourselves.

7 utterly beautiful and cosy editions in 7 months, resulting in almost 1000 people following us on Instagram. That is absolutely absolutely insane guys. We sincerely want to thank you for the past year and for sharing these Sundays with us. 💞

After the lockdown, we found ourselves again in an accelerating stream we couldn't control. But the success of a concept like this feels like a promising sign for the future! In the overstimulation of an always-going-faster world, you could almost say that it's punk to press pause.

But we have to be honest though, it asked quite a lot from us to bring Matinée to life. That's why we're taking a break for a couple of months. But we will be back! Cause it’s an absolute pleasure to make it happen, to have you guys and to see you all feel at home. We hope to see you next year!
