A commitment to the ecosystem to increasing the flow of catalytic capital in the sub-region by Impact Investing Ghana (IIGh), Nigeria National Advisory Board for Impact Investing (Nigeria NABII) and taskforces from Senegal and Burkina Faso at the just-ended West Africa Deal Summit was all we needed to see.
Amma Lartey Etemore Glover - (MBA) Alex Asiedu Ibukun Awosika Osarume Akenzua Bowel Diop Yacouba Ouedraogo commit to taking the needed action individually and collectively to truly move capital in ways that are catalytic to fill the SME financing gap and to drive inclusive growth that leaves no one behind.
Come next year, 2024, the team will review progress at the 2nd West Africa Deal Summit in Nigeria under the theme “Actions to Deepen Catalytic Capital in West Africa”.

Excerpts from Conversations and Time with Mrs. Ibukun Awosika on the Day 2 of the West Africa Deal Summit 2023.
"The need to innovate goes beyond a sense of profitability. Impact does not mean the business should not be sustainable, but rather the ability of the business model to create value. This can be done in two ways: 1. Build efficient systems with social and human costs 2. Create a viable environment of empowered populations with purchasing power"- Time with Mrs. Ibukun Awosika on the Day 2 of the West Africa Deal Summit 2023.

All eyes on Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, Board Chairperson of the Nigerian National Advisory Board for Impact Investing (NABII).
Speaking on a holistic agenda for the continent on moving Catalytic Capital for Impact, Mrs Awosika said this will be achieved by reflecting on the strengths and focusing on what problems are to be solved and what value should be created. "Let us differentiate between subsistence entrepreneurs and scalable entrepreneurs (charity and investment) and be deliberate to support scalable businesses". Adding that entrepreneurial education can enable businesses to attract the right financing.
