The Mapstone’s | Chapel House Estate 🤎

Victoria & Dennie’s utterly magical & authentic wedding film from the beautiful Chapel House Estate wedding venue in Kent. An epic story of childhood sweethearts becoming husband & wife 10 years after they first met.

A serene setting in the heart of Kent, an intimate & heartfelt outdoor wedding ceremony, a sunset like something out of a Hollywood movie & a dancefloor that was packed from start to finish- just a few of the highlights from this truly amazing wedding.

At the heart of it all were Vicki & Dennie, the newly established Mr & Mrs Mapstone.

What a couple.

What a story.

What a wedding 🫶🏻

“Wow… where to start?

We were blown away with Luke’s ability to make us feel so comfortable, give us loads of ideas & make us laugh from the initial meeting all the way through to the end. The quality of his work is outstanding, but it was also so fun to film with him!

If you need a videographer, he’s the best in the business!”

The Stephens’ 🫶🏻🎥

The only thing that usurped the beautiful private view of the sunset over the coast was just how good these two looked. I mean, this is just pure dreamy magic, right?

Grace & Ben took a moment to soak in their wedding day at Kingsgate Castle overlooking the coastline & surrounding beaches. Perched high up on the cliff tops, the view was pretty spectacular. The white cliffs & soft skies were the perfect backdrop as the newly established Stephens’ laughed & chatted for a while 🫶🏻🎥

The Tydeman’s 🫶🏻

If there were 3 words I would use to describe Emma & Sam’s New Years Eve wedding, they would be elegant, stylish & epic.

A serene wedding morning full of smiles was followed by a light hearted & intimate wedding ceremony, where these two tied the knot at the Orangery. As the day turned into night the celebrations entered full swing, culminating in a packed out dance floor that welcomed in the New Year in the very best way- singing & dancing!

At the heart of it all were the Tydemans, celebrating their day with all their friends & family, in a beautiful venue. What could be better? 🫶🏻🎥

It’s so exciting when I get to sit down & start to piece together a new wedding film- especially one as beautiful as Vicki & Dennie’s!

Vicki’s walk down the aisle was particularly beautiful & I’ve been absolutely itching to edit it & see how I can use it in her & Dennie’s film. I love the long outdoor aisle at Chapel House Estate- you get so much time to soak in the moment!

These two had a really beautiful day & it was such a pleasure to be a part of it with them. Now I’ve got to stop rambling- I’ve got a film to make 😉🎥

A throwback to Alana & Carl’s special day at Winters Barns- a day surrounded by love, laughter & fun. What an honour it was to be a small part of their day.

This was one of my favourite moments of theirs, as they took a moment to themselves by the infamous barn doors at Winters Barns. I’ve always thought that a huge part of the skill in being a wedding filmmaker is knowing how to manipulate lighting, angles & scenes, as well as directing your subject, to create epic shots & moments that have that ‘wow’ factor, but also then knowing how to balance that with the natural, authentic moments- just like this.

I loved being a part of this day- Alana & Carl were simply amazing to work with & they had such an amazing wedding 🫶🏻🎥

A little throwback to these two & their beautiful London wedding at the very grand & elegant Temple Church.

The areas surrounding Temple Church are steeped in history, with beautiful pillars & archways- perfect for a couples portrait session as the guests made their way onto the venue & reception.

This was not only one of my favourite moments from our couples shoot, but also one of my favourite scenes I’ve been privileged enough to capture during my time as a wedding filmmaker. An amazing couple, wonderful light, incredible architecture, it’s just amazing!

Kirsty + Stan 🫶🏻🤎

I love the storytelling aspect of being a wedding videographer- I’ve always loved it & it’s what attracted me to persue this career in the first place. Getting to know my couples, finding out what makes them, well, them & then filming their special day with that story in mind.

It’s what separates a wedding film from any other service- it’s what makes you cry, laugh, feel as you go through the journey of the film. There’s something truly unique about a carefully curated & crafted wedding film that really sets it apart.

I’ve been honoured to tell some truly incredible stories throughout the years, with one of my favourites being Kirsty & Stans’. They fully let themselves go, embraced the amazing moments throughout their beautiful day & three themselves into the best day of their lives. It was such a privilege to be entrusted with their story.

Which is why the couples portrait session is so important, because these Crete the visual building blocks to accompany your amazing story. Here’s just a few examples of some screenshots from my session with these two- how incredible do they both look?

Visions… 🎥

That’s what you’re buying into when you decide your videographer or photographer- a vision. Anyone can pick up a camera, sell their services & call themselves a professional, but it’s their vision of how they portray a wedding day that separates them.

That’s why we often run styled shoots- fake weddings that showcase what we think a wedding could be, highlighting our talents, storytelling, posing etc. it’s not just creating content for the sake of the social media merry-go-round, it’s an intent to show you what’s possible.

You could give two creatives the same cameras & lenses, get them to document the exact same wedding & get two polar opposite results in the finished article. Why? Simply because they will have different visions of how they want to portray that day. They’ll film different things, they’ll focus on different things, they’ll be in different places.

A wedding is a one-take event, there’s no do-overs, so finding the right style & vision for you is so, so important. It’s finding someone who can replicate & produce their vision no matter what a wedding day throws at them, coping with those challenges without you even knowing they’re happening.

So when you see my work (or anyone else’s for that matter) like this image I took of Ehrin & Alfie on our ‘Golden Affection’ inspired shoot, it’s far more than just a picture. It’s a representation of how I want to tell your story, of the type of looks, feelings, aesthetics I love to produce & of course, an example of how your wedding could look if you choose me to be a part of your special day 🎥🫶🏻

It’s the light versus the dark… 🎥

There’s certain parts of a wedding day that are truly creative & one of those is our golden hour portrait session, where we whisk you off for a sunset walk- when the light is lovely & soft, creating so many chances for those epic shots you’ll adore.

Silhouettes are one of those creative things we can do if the lighting allows. Exposing for the sky & sunset behind plunges you (the subject) into darkness, giving the moment an air of mystery & intrigue. It’s especially good for those little intimate moments of you both that helps truly deliver that close, intense emotion in your film.

I’ll often try & make the shot more dynamic by parallaxing the camera so that the light rays come through the gaps between you, much like the moments you can see here of Annabel & Ross.

Ive always enjoyed these kinds of scenes- they’re so great to use in my storytelling when I want to slow the pace of a film down to focus on the emotion or feelings between you that I want to convey. Everything I film has a purpose, an intention- using creative techniques such as silhouetting is a part of that intent.

It’s all in the details… 🎥

I love this shot of Alfie adjusting his bow tie from our recent shoot at Balcombe Place in West Sussex. It’s these type of details shots that can build the anticipation & help motivate the visual narrative of your film.

It works for both Grooms & Brides on the morning of your wedding & isn’t something that takes very long to film at all, but the impact it can have is profound.

How adorable are these two? 🫶🏻

We took the Mapstones out for an evening walk on their wedding day at Chapel House Estate, just in time for that magical golden hour light. It’s one of my favourite times of the day- the formalities are done, everyone’s relaxed & this is when we get to get creative.

Vicki & Dennie were the ACTUAL dream to work with- why do I say that? It’s because they were simply themselves & didn’t try to be something they weren’t. Our short portrait session was full of laughter, jokes & smiles- encapsulating them perfectly.

As a professional wedding filmmaker I am looking to capture your day in the very best way I can, which means I need to lean into your personalities & play off of them in order to create something you’ll adore. I often hear couples saying they’re nervous about being in front of a camera, but all I need is for you to be yourselves & you can leave the rest of it up to me.

If you are full of smiles & always laugh together, like Vicki & Dennie, then that’s what I need you to be. If you are serious, then be serious. If you’re passionate, silly, reserved, OTT or anything in between- that’s all I need you to be. The most important part of what I do is capturing YOU- that’s what will take your film from great, to epic.

I’ve always said my approach is people first, cameras second. Getting you to feel relaxed, comfortable & actually ENJOYING the experience of being filmed is my number one priority. Take a quick scroll through my work & you’ll quickly see, there’s no awkwardness here- just the beautiful personalities of some incredible people I am lucky enough to film 🤎🎥🔥

A wedding videographer in the wild… 🎥🔥

We are already half way through 2024- where has that time gone?

It’s funny, every year that I’m fortunate enough to do this job I seem to experience something new, something different- no two wedding seasons are the same.

I think if i could go back & talk to myself at the very start of my filmmaking career I’d have probably said that after a couple of years & a little experience, you’d settle into a rhythm & fundamentally everything would stay the same.

That really isn’t the case though- in fact it’s not even close. I think I spend more time now on research, skill development, look design & client experience than I ever have before!

You never stop learning, never stop finding avenues to go down & explore- it’s a part of what makes this craft so interesting & a part of what keeps pushing your work forward.

I hate the idea of plateauing, of feeling like I’ve reached the peak of the mountain with nowhere further to go. What I love however is that you cannot be ‘the best’ videographer- that title doesn’t exist.

There’s so many genres, styles, techniques, looks & approaches- we all play the same game but we all play to different rules. You can take inspiration from others, you can admire their success & learn from their approaches but the only person you should be in ‘competition’ with, is yourself.

So what’s been my new experience this year?

Being less harsh on myself, being less critical of my work & not comparing it to others in the industry. Being comfortable in my own style, regardless of what anyone else is doing.

It’s something I’ve always struggled with & I still don’t find it easy, but that’s been my new experience for this year- leaning into my own style & embracing it. I believe I’m much better for it!

A big thank you to for these images of me working!

What a wedding dress!

How stunning did Emma look in her outrageously beautiful Viero wedding dress? The perfect attire to bring in the New Year, as Emma & Sam decided to tie the knot on NYE at The Orangery in Maidstone.

Accompanied by her awesome bridesmaids, it was too good of an opportunity to miss & so we took Emma & the girls out for a little walk in the evening to really show off THAT dress. Just look at all those smiles!

OB-SESSED doesn’t even cover it 🤩🎥🔥

It was far too good not to share some more from our ‘Golden Affection’ wedding inspiration shoot this week- I mean just look at how exquisite & sublime it was!

These styled shoots are an amazing way for supplier across the wedding industry to come together & showcase their talents, as well as providing inspiration for Brides & Grooms across the world for their own wedding days. Styles, poses, aesthetics, ideas, supplier themselves- all things you can take away from these types of days & implement into your own wedding day to give it that impact you want & make it all the more special.

How do I use these wedding shoot days? Well this is where I trial new poses, new colours, new ways of filming or photographing, express my own vision of what a wedding day could be for you & of course, network with an amazing team of highly skilled & talented wedding suppliers.

This means I can iron out any problems or issues, making me more efficient on a clients wedding day- ultimately meaning those clients get far more out of their time with me & crucially, more from their wedding film.

As you can see, this shoot was particularly beautiful- it’s something I’m very proud of. If you’ve not yet seen the teaser film for this shoot then head over to my page & it’s pinned at the top- you will NOT be disappointed!

I’m feeling blessed to work in such a vibrant, talented & friendly industry- constantly striving to get the absolute maximum for the couples that put their trust in us. Being a wedding filmmaker really is one of the best jobs in the world 🤎🎥🔥

How stunning did these two look on their wedding evening? 🫶🏻

As if being married at your own private castle wasn’t enough, you then throw in this sunset & view to boot! A perfect end to a magical day for Grace & Ben.

With a view stretching out over the Kent coast from the beautiful Kingsgate Castle, sat high up on the rocks, golden hour didn’t disappoint & we caught these lovely moments of them both taking some time together to reflect on their amazing day.

This week was Grace & Bens 1 year anniversary- where has that time gone! One of my favourite weddings from 2023- it was simply incredible!

Breaking the 4th wall 👁️

I cannot believe it’s already been over 2 years since Sarah & Billy’s wedding day- where has that time gone!

Breaking the 4th wall is a creative choice in a wedding film & one that needs to be used carefully & intentionally.

The 4th wall refers to when a subject looks directly into the camera. If you think now to most wedding films you see (or any other films for that matter), the vast majority of the time it’s very ‘fly on the wall’, as in you are watching the scene unfold & it appears the subjects aren’t aware that they’re being filmed.

Breaking the 4th wall invites the viewer directly into what the subject is thinking or feeling- it shatters that illusion that they don’t know they’re being filmed & creates a connection with you as the viewer.

As a wedding filmmaker I’m creating your wedding film in my mind as we go through the day- I often jot down notes & ideas throughout the day of the direction I want to take your film in. In some instances where I think I want to break the 4th wall then I’ll factor that shot into our evening session- a big difference between wedding videos & wedding films is your intent with a shot or a moment.

By the evening I’ve got most of my narrative from the day, I’ve been there through your emotions & I know your story. So, if there’s a big emotional story or moment I know I want to use as the basis or as a big moment in the film, then I’ll set up a shot like this because I want to create that connection with my couple in the film.

That’s why I took these moments of Sarah holding onto Billy looking straight down the lens- it was a specific creative choice based on where I wanted to take the film. It’s part of the reason I place so much emphasis on getting to know my couples as best I can.

What do you think about breaking the 4th wall?

Would you want your wedding dance floor to be this crazy? 💃🪩🕺🏼

Nothing says celebration quite like an off-the-scale knees up, crazy shapes on the dancefloor & of course, belting out your favourite air guitar anthems 🎸

That’s exactly the kind of night Lucy & Richard had- not only one of the parties of the year, but one of the parties of the century. Just look at how crazy it was!

A beautiful & serene wedding day was flipped on its head with the first strum of the electric guitar & what ensued was a fine line between utter craziness & an insanely good night. I wish all wedding days had a dance floor like this!

Capturing these types of moments means only one thing- get stuck in & getting right into the heart of the dancefloor where the action is. There’s no awkwardly placed static tripods off to a side in my filmmaking- I want to be where the action is & that meant headbanging along with everyone else! 🎥🔥

Tips for stunning bridal prep images ⬇️

Ok, first things first, Cara looks incredible doesn’t she? Give her a double tap if you agree!

So there’s several things you can do on your wedding morning that can completely transform the images & film you get & the best part? They’ll cost you absolutely nothing.

Dedicate an area for all the bags, coats, shoes etc that you & the bridesmaids will have. Keeping the room clean & tidy instantly gives a higher quality look & feel to any imagery.

When you set up with your hair & make up artists, ask to be by the biggest window. Natural light is our friend & is infinitely more flattering than indoor lighting, so the more natural lighting we can use the better. If you’ve ever seen stunning film or photos of a bride getting ready, I guarantee you it’s almost always using natural light.

Factor & plan in some extra time. These shots don’t just ‘happen’ & time is our friend. I always say whatever time you think you need to be in your dress, go for 20 minutes prior to that. This gives us time to get you these types of images, plus relieves that last minute stress.

For any dress reveals, factor this time in as well & also consider the location of where you’d like to do your reveal. We can organise Dad or the girls whilst you finish up getting ready so it’s a slick & meaningful event without it impacting on your timeline.

Finally, relax & have fun! It’s your wedding day & you only do this once. I want stunning moments of you as much as you do, so roll with it, smile & enjoy the experience!
