We're looking for dancers, theatre and circus practitioners, live artists, musicians, multimedia artists and creative technologists to apply for a spot on our OOT Arts/Tech Residency 2024-25.

This Connective Matrix: Intersecting Horizons session invites discussion to further knowledge and opportunity-sharing between artists, technologists, researchers and venues.

Step into the narrative! Virtual reality brings audiences into the story.
How can VR make you an active participant in the performance - is it something you've explored in your own creative practice?
We use creative technologies in performance work, finding new ways to deepen engagement with audiences and tell stories.
There are lots of tools that can bring performance work into the virtual world, including motion capture, which captures and translates human movement into the digital realm.
IJAD Dance Company are running an online workshop this weekend, which combines mindfulness, ancient poetry and movement, designed for reflecting on individual experiences about fear and self-love.

In this workshop, you will be guided through a series of activities aimed at understanding our journeys and tuning into individual emotions. The practice will give participants the opportunity (and time and space) to tap into their creativity through poetry, dance, and storytelling.

Sensography is the art of devising, choreographing and creating dramaturgies for physical, hybrid and digital spaces and it's a key part of our work and something we share with our students and artists in residence.

Caroline Cardus shares the story of her career as a disabled producer.
We love exploring performance work that uses creative technologies, from VR to AR, the metaverse, AI, motion capture or sound technology.
Motion capture is widely used in the production of video games, with dancers lending their movements to the process to help create realistic characters on screen.
But these Tik Tok creators have taken a different approach, fusing the stilted, uncanny movements of early NPCs into their dance routines.
Some dancers have found a niche on TikTok and other platforms imitating video game characters — moving like a machine’s idea of a human.
How does our approach to creating hybrid work differ from the approach to creating traditional performance work?
Work with hybridity embedded into it from the outset considers the multitude of possible audience experiences: people using different devices, in different types of location, the level of WiFi connectivity, and the fact that people may be dipping in and out of the performance, behaving in ways unlike traditional theatre viewing.

Meet artist and performer Brendan Bradley, who will be bringing his original VR musical, Non-Player Character, to OOTFest22 at Rich Mix London this Saturday. Non-Player Character is performed live inside web-based virtual reality. The story follows a non-player character in a video game who witnesses the death of the hero character and turns to the audience for assistance processing the five stages of grief (represented as five virtual worlds). The work seeks to challenge and explore several tiers of audience experience and participation.
