WRITERS CUP
GUIDELINES
I. INTRODUCTION
In the realm of literature, there exists a breed of individuals whose words have the power to captivate, inspire, and transport us to worlds unknown. These individuals are the excellent writers, the masterful craftsmen and women who weave stories, poems, and essays with an unparalleled skill and artistry. Their words dance off the page, imprinting themselves upon our hearts and minds, leaving an indelible mark on our souls. As we celebrate the Rexia Fest 2023, we will conduct an event that honor to all writer's, faces of two potent groups which are the Academe of Ataraxia and Domicile of Retrovaille.
II. REQUIREMENTS
Eligibility:
• Must be one of the member of the writers club of both potent group which is Ataraxia and
Domicile.
• Each group shall contain 5 participants;
1 - Editor in Chief
1 - News writer
1 - Feature writer
1 - Sport writer
1 - Layout Artist
• Have the knowledge and skills on how to compose a news paper.
III. MECHANICS
• Each Club of writer's of Ataraxia and Domicile must gather their eligible writer's to participate the contest and will be added to the created group chat wherein all the possible happining on the event will be announce.
• In creation of the paper, each participants of writers cup are only allowed to disclose any matters in their work in the created group chat.
• This contest is upholds on making newspaper. There will be a Theme upon making it.
Theme: REXIA FEST
•Submission Guidelines:
→Page Count: Submissions should be at 4 pages:
• Front page
• News page
• Feature page
• Back/Sport page
→Format: Submissions must be in 2480 x 3508px
Paper size and PDF file attached.
→Language: All submissions must be in one medium, if it is started on English the whole newspaper must be in English medium.
→Originality: Entries are allowed to have any information came from internet but should use credits or courtesy. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
→Deadline: They will be given three (3) days on making the newspaper and the deadline for submissions is 2hours after MISS REXIA.
→Judging Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Content (50%) CONTENT
• Exhibits appropriate balance of news, editorial, features, sports, and other appropriate and interesting content
• Utilizes facts from interviews, document review, data analysis and other
• Reliable sources
• Shows a variety of stories that fit the section where they are placed
• Cites historical references, statistics, relevant names/facts to bolster credibility of statements, assertions, arguments and/or narratives
• Provides balance of light and serious topics
• Shows relevance of articles to students
• Showcases original works of students.
Properly cites information and attributes these facts from the source of information
• Applies the principles of journalism
Technical (40%)
•Includes articles that are arranged according to importance
•Presents headlines that are clear and free of bias
•Makes use of pictures that are clear, properly cropped and captioned
•Utilizes graphics, illustrations and cartoons that are relevant
• Exhibits clear focus and coherent organization
• Observes the rules of grammar and syntax
Observes proper journalistic style and format
Ethics (10%)
•Showcases original works of students.
•Properly cites information and attributes these facts from the source of information (cut across all events)
•Observes standards of journalism in terms of fairness, relevance, accuracy, and balance
•Has no potentially libelous or obscene content, plagiarism and copyright violations
TOTAL (100%)
Judging Panel: The submissions will be judged by a panel of experienced writers and literary experts.
IV. RULES
Terms and Conditions:
• Apply the General Rules of both potent groups.
•Entries that violate copyright laws or contain explicit or offensive content will be disqualified.
• If the group of writers failed to submit the entry on it's time of submission it's opponent will win by default.
