Victorian Parliament Honours Sri Lankan Music Legends in Australia 🇦🇺🇱🇰

Melbourne, 28 August 2024 – Yesterday, a special event was held at the Victorian Parliament in Australia to honour two iconic Sri Lankan music legends, Mr. Rookantha Goonatillake and Ms. Chandralekha Perera , for their outstanding contributions to Sri Lankan music Industry and the Sri Lankan community of Australia. As a token of appreciation and in recognition of their exceptional work. Both artists were presented with special awards. This prestigious event was graced by their talented daughters, Ms. Raini Charuka Goonatillake and Ms. Windy Goonatillake , who are also renowned music artists in their own right and was also presented with special awards. Mr Sanuka Wickramasinghe was also presented with a special award but unfortunately he couldn’t make it to the event.

The event was hosted by the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mr. Evan Mulholland MP and attended by notable figures, including the Opposition Leader, Mr. John Pesutto , and Mr. Richard Welch MP. This event was organised by prominent Australian lawyer, Mr. Shawn Mendis, who played a pivotal role in bringing this celebration to life.

Special recognition is given to 7 Zone Entertainment Pty Ltd, the company responsible for bringing these esteemed artists to Australia and coordinating this wonderful event. 7 Zone Entertainment is also organizing a massive music festival in Melbourne, Australia, on 31st August 2024, at the famous Palais Theatre in St. Kilda. The company is led by world-renowned Sri Lankan cricketer Mr. TM Dilshan, along with Thari Jayatillaka and Shehan De Silva, whose efforts have been instrumental in the success of these events.
