Y'all ever heard that creepy whisper in room 209 in Silent Hill 2? After all these years of wondering what it says and it's just a stock sound 😢. I still appreciate the creative use of stock sounds that Akira used though! I guess in the end it IS about how you use sounds not how many you create.

Did you know that there were over 100 different footsteps recorded for Silent Hill 2? That may not seem like a lot when compared too today's games. But, it was a big deal back when this game was released. Akira Yamaoka has said that this was to add variety and to avoid redundancy. He also claims that silence is a sound all its own, and the footsteps were meant to contribute to the eerie lack of music.
