Operations and spin-ups under the Red Stone banner will not be like typical events. They are not about getting into gunfight after gunfight for arbitrary points. They will be about weeks if not months of planning, making sure everyone is positioned just right, and finally the ex*****on that will determine whether or not you walk away with mission success.

We want every engagement our attendees get into to have a weight to them that you will not find anywhere else. That weight will come from the knowledge that there are no second chances and that even the slightest mistake can mean mission failure.

How many of you might be interested in attending a small one day event that would lay the ground work for future operations under the Red Stone banner?

This event would likely be a low vis surveillance on a dead drop in a public location that would follow onto a direct action capture mission of some low level guys in a cell the task force is tracking. If we can garner enough interest we can potentially have something like this set up before the end of the year. Let us know in the comments!

So we’re not dead. Planning Operation Shadow Spire is certainly taking longer than we’ve expected.

For those that might like to help out, we’re trying to find a good abandoned location in Maryland with plenty of back roads and space in every direction. If there’s a mall and airbnbs inside of a half hour then that’s even better!

Once we nail down a location then the Operation would come shortly afterwards.

When many people think about special operations, what usually comes to mind? Compound raids, HALO jumps, just overt direct action missions right? Well what if we told you that those are only a part of the bigger picture?

Have you ever had to surveil a discreet dead drop in a crowded public place? How about tail a courier to a point where you can safely capture them? Maybe you’ve even thought about stealing a laptop from a hotel room that turns out to be a veritable treasure trove of intel?

With Red Stone we’re looking to implement things like this for an experience you can’t get at other MFOGs. Tailored to make these missions as close to a real life special operation as legally possible. It’s time for a different style of events. Events that are closer to real world operations. Operations where there are no second chances.

Imagine something: The time is 20:50. You and your intel team, callsign Immortal, are operating out of a makeshift Tactical Operations Center. You helped the assault and recon teams plan their actions on target by providing them with satellite imagery of the target area and it’s surroundings. You IDed primary and secondary objectives for the team and advised them how to best assault the objective. You look around the darkened room and admire the artistry at work. The only thing you hear are the soft hums of computers and the occasional radio check ins from Aurora and Crow. Suddenly you don’t feel bad for staying out of the action this time. The time is 21:00. On the drone feed you see the assaulters exit the target area after completing SSE. But you also see a large enemy QRF heading straight for them. To you, the team on the ground are just callsigns. To them you’re their guardian angel. You pick up the radio next to you and begin to speak. You speak clearly and concisely because if you don’t everything you worked so hard for would be for nothing. No second chances.

Imagine something: The time is 20:00. You and your recon element, callsign Crow, are in a sniper hide you built the night before under the cover of darkness. You inserted just a few hours ago and have been there since then. Quietly watching while barely moving a muscle. Though you’re barely within effective range of your SAR12, you and your spotter are confident in your abilities. All you hear around you are the sounds of bugs, slight gusts of wind, and the barely noticeable hum of the drone your security is operating. The time is 20:45. Nightfall is here and you’ve strapped a night vision device in front of your scope. Aurora is now at their LCC and ready to commence the assault. You and your spotter sight in on a sentry roving the grounds with a flashlight on the end of his T15. You control your breathing and caress the trigger with your finger. You feel like Captain Price all ghillied up deep in Pripyat. Except unlike CoD4, there is no restart button. No second chances.

Imagine something: The time is 19:30. You and your assault team, callsign Aurora, are in the living room of an Airbnb the team has converted into a TOC/armory. As you look around you see your teammates making their final preparations. Loading mags with FSR, comms checks, and triple checking night vision. The team is upbeat, cracking jokes and generally just making conversation. The time is now 20:30. The sun is down and everyone knows it’s time to go to work. The teams overall demeanor has changed. They’re focused, driven, and ready. You look over to the TOC and the intel team gives you the green light. You walk out into the nighttime air and one by one your team turns on their night vision. You load up into the vehicles after making sure your team is ready one last time. As you move towards the target area, everyone knows in the back of their minds that this is it. You only get one shot to do this right. No second chances.

What if?

That’s the question that’s driven just about every innovation in human history. What if we sharpened steel? What if humans could fly? What if we split an atom?

Those of us in Task Force 83 asked what if magfed/airsoft events weren’t just about throwing two teams at each other over the course of a weekend? What if these events had a failure point? What if guys had to adapt to ever changing conditions in order to complete a mission? What if milsim events could be structured more like real world operations?
