If you are like me and want to scout the area you will be in, Google Earth is incredible for looking at the terrain, city streets, directions, etc. It's 3D feature is super cool as it lets you navigate the map in a virtual environment.

A couple of tips for your upcoming trip!

- No tank tops, graphic tees, athletic wear (excluding golf shirts with a collar)short dresses or skirts in any churches, Vatican, etc.

-Wear comfy shoes, your feet and back will thank you!

- Pack light (you WILL pack way more then you actually need, you’re not going to war or running a fashion show :p) Check if your Airbnb/VRBO has in unit laundry, its a life-saver.

- Let Nick know if you need help booking tours or need suggestions on things to do. (GetYourGuide is a great tour company and it helps out my website too!)

Packing Tips:

- Travel size bottle of downy wrinkle remover & stuff dryer sheets in your extra shoes

- ALL LIQUIDS IN A CARRYON MUST BE IN contained within a single, clear 1-quart bag with a zipper-like top. Each passenger is allowed a single 1-quart bag in carry-on luggage. The 3-1-1 Rule applies to toiletries and liquid cosmetics. Passengers must present their quart bags for inspection at the security checkpoint.

- Don't forgot to pack an outfit or two in your carryon bag in case your checked baggage gets lost.

- Don't pack ANYTHING in your checked bag that you are not prepared to lose

- Amanda and I HIGHLY recommend packing a carryon only and a backpack or day bag. Less stress, less to worry about, easier to get around and keeps you flexible. Plus, there is no way for the airlines to lose your luggage ;)

Hello all!

We hope you are all doing well!

The welcome dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Garlate on September 05. It is about a 10 minute walk from Best Western Hotel Nuovo. Please let us know if you will not be attending since we need to provide a final guest count at the end of August. Also let us know if you have any food allergies!

For those of you who wished to join us on the boat ride! We just booked today so we are all set for September 07 at 2 p.m. at the boat dock in Varenna! Prior to the boat ride, we will be walking around Varenna and grabbing lunch. In order to get to Varenna, you can take the train from Calolziocorte-Olginate station to Varenna station which is a 40 minute ride. The trains run every hour (0743, 0843, 0943, 1043, 1143, 1243) and is $3-$4 for the ride. https://www.rome2rio.com

Good news, the euro falls to a 20-year low!

In years past I would suggest to buy Euros ahead of time. However, the exchange rate is unlikely to bounce back up anytime soon. In this situation, as long as your bank or card has a "no foreign transaction fee"... its OK to wait and use an ATM at the airport once you arrive in Italy. :)
