As a plus size bride I was always worried about our wedding photos. I don’t really like having full length photos taken, especially unposed ones. I contemplated asking our photographer if she could photoshop me thinner. I thought when she saw me on the day she might be disappointed by my size - as she would have her work cut out for her. I thought that as a founder of a wedding blog people would expect me to look like the picture perfect Pinterest bride.
I had so many worries about my weight on my wedding day. I was worried that I would look bigger than my husband (because I am! Who said women have to be thinner than men anyway?!). I was worried that people would wonder why we went to get ice-cream on our wedding day because I clearly don’t look like I need it. I was worried that my bridal leather jacket would make me look even bigger and that I wouldn’t look cute like on other brides. I was worried that my fingers would look like sausages in close ups of my hands. I was worried that if I smiled too much I might have a double chin. I was worried that because of all of this I’d hate every single photo.
I was worried that all I’d see in the photos was an overweight girl… a “fat bride”, but that’s not what I see. When I look at our photos, I see two people so deeply in love and so happy that they are finally married. I see the way my husband looks at me, like I’m the most beautiful person he’s ever seen.
So to the other brides to be worrying about this, I promise you’ll feel beautiful on the day and your size will be so far from your mind. You are beautiful just as you are. In the lead up to your day you should be chasing RSVPs, not fad diets. YOU DON’T HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT FOR YOUR WEDDING 👏🏻
I will never get over our wedding photos, every time I see them I fall in love even more and I can’t believe that it’s us. They’re everything I dreamed of for our elopement and more and I can’t thank Meggy Mac Photography enough for capturing us so incredibly, just as we are.

It’s our first wedding of the year on the blog today! Up first are Jade and Will who tied the knot last summer with sleek modern wedding theme; monochrome colours and hints of blue 🦋 The beautiful bride wore a stunning simple satin dress by Hera Couture and her groom wore a classic black tux. Despite a stressful time planning during the pandemic, their day was perfect with the sun shining ☀️ Guests were kept entertained with a cheese and wine tasting drinks reception and a bouncy castle 🙌 Jade runs a wedding stationery company so all of the finishing touches were extra special as they were designed by the bride herself 🤍
