In our exhibition of 95 inspiring engineers, you will find Annie Easley. She began her career at NASA in 1955, she started as a ‘human computer’ but quickly moved to computer coding as new technologies were introduced. In 2021 a crater on the moon was named after her.

Did you know that Guion Bluford was the first African-American man to travel into space? Between 1983 and 1992, he travelled to space four times. What an achievement! We have celebrated this by having our 95 inspiring engineers’ exhibition in the stairwell of savoy place.

Let’s talk about Mary Jackson! She worked hard to get the qualifications she needed to be NASA's first black female engineer. She has been an advocate for equal opportunities within the workspace since 1979. We pay homage to Mary by having her journey shown on our stairwell exhibition at Savoy place.

Lewis Howard Latimer was a self-taught engineer, inventor, and draughtsman who worked on electric lighting, air conditioning, and improvements to railway toilets. An inductee of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. A big name in the history of engineering, securing him a spot in our exhibition on 95 inspiring engineers.

IET Birmingham: Austin Court, in the heart of Brindleyplace by the canals, was home to a 2022 FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Festival! The children were exploring this season's theme, CARGO CONNECT™.

The teams used our Lodge rooms to have space to work collaboratively. The space can expand as you need during an event from 1 to 3 connected rooms - shame it's not a LEGO® brick wall partition though!

The LEGO® models were built by our next generation; some incredible teams of 6 to 9 year olds (with names to match such as LEGO® Legends, LEGO® Friends, LEGO® Masters, LEGO® Builders and LEGO® Crazy).

The designs ranged from motorised bridges and airports, to jet skis and boats - all designed to help stop water pollution. Congratulations to the teachers and students at All Souls' Primary School for focusing on incredible topics this term.
