My corner of the wedding world is officially one year old! I launched JTaylor Events in January of 2023 and am so grateful for everything I’ve learned and accomplished this past year as a business owner 🥹 I’ve wanted to be a wedding planner since high school and after several years of learning and developing my skills in the industry, I got to turn my dream into my reality! I am over the moon to get to call this my job and am so ready for what is to come in 2024!

A big big big thank you to my clients this year who trusted me with their wedding day and a big big big thank you to all the vendors who have supported me along the way! Y’all rock 🤩

A few fun facts about me!

🎮 I played over 800 hours of Animal Crossing NH during the pandemic
🐶 I’m a dog person 100% and am looking forward to when my husband and I decide we are ready for our own fur baby
🏕️ I love tent camping! Stayed a night at a site with no plumbing for the first time this summer so I’ve officially entered the realm of rustic camping 💪🏻😂
👰‍♀️ I got married this past July! Wedding planning while starting my business was truly a special experience 🤪

CHAMPAGNE TOAST TIP 🥂

Considering a champagne toast for your big day? While it's fun to include your guests in this experience, the majority will opt to toast with their preferred drink and let the bubbly go to waste. Save yourself the money, and the caterers the hassle, and only serve champagne to the head table! This way you still get those elegant photos but much less champagne goes to waste, AND you save some budget for something else!

The sun is out, and we're getting our tan on!

Tan lines can be an enemy for those sleeveless, open back brides. If you're opting to tan naturally for your big day, remember to lay out in the right attire, use sunscreen, and apply after-sun lotion to avoid peeling! And don't forget to lose that smart watch and hair ties on your wrist too while you're soaking up those rays 🌞

🌿Wedding Mood Boards🌿

A glamorous concept, but not always the easiest to get a grasp on. Here are a few things to consider when it comes to nailing down the vibe for your wedding.

What does your favorite coffee shop or restaurant look like? They may just have the best dark roast around, but chances are, they also have the best atmosphere to you. Is it dark and moody? Or filled with light and plants? This is a great place to start.

Take a look at your wardrobe. Is it full of color and patterns? Or does it consist of earthy tones and neutrals?

What textures do you find yourself drawn to? Old worn books? Smooth metals? Anything that glitters and shines?

Whatever you answered to these questions is exactly where you start when it comes to creating a vision for your big day. And look! We didn't even need Pinterest to get you started. Aren't you amazed? And on that note, your wedding isn't about following trends, it's about expressing who you and your partner are, so stay true to what YOU love! Not what others think is cool. Happy planning! 🤍

I'm pretty sure you could use Pinterest and Pinterest alone to plan your entire wedding. It is an AMAZING tool and helps bring your vision to life. 📌

Did you know, that after a certain point, using Pinterest is actually harmful to your wedding planning?

When you're in that brainstorming, finding what ✨vibe✨ you like, and what looks good together stage, YES, pin everything. But once you have a clear idea of what you want, STOP SCROLLING. Do yourself a favor and create a mood board OFF of Pinterest with your favorite pins.

The endless flow of ideas and inspiration will quickly become your enemy when you start second guessing EVERYTHING you have picked out. "That's so much cuter, we should have done that!" "Do you think that color scheme would have looked better?" You do not want that to be you! Know when to walk away from Pinterest and stick with what you loved in the first place! 💕

Unless you're like me and you love planning and making to-do lists, you might be getting burnt out from all the research and decision making. Make sure to take time away from Pinterest scrolling, Facebook group commenting, and Insta feed screenshotting.

Designate time to do what fills your bucket and gives you a recharge! Have a snuggly movie night with snacks, stay in bed until noon, DRINK WATER, do some yoga, whatever makes you feel good- don't forget to do it! And do it often!

If planning is stressing you out, put it on pause for a week or two and focus on you!

PRO TIP:

Have your caterers specifically set aside a plate of apps for you (the bride and groom) when they are setting them out! THEN, have someone (like a day-of coordinator😉) bring them to you right after the ceremony, BEFORE you run off with your photographers!

When you get back from taking photos during cocktail hour either A. you won't have time to eat or B. all the apps will be gone! And even if they set aside a plate and save it for you for when you come back, you'll likely go right into entrances, and then speeches, and then dinner, and you get fed first!

Not only will you be starving after your ceremony because you probably weren't able to eat earlier because of nerves, but this is a great time to take a few minutes alone together and indulge in something you paid a lot of money for.
