This:

I support this heroic, underfunded little orphanage in Jinja, Uganda. The children there are mostly street kids, without anything but the facility where Wanda Moses takes them in, feeds them, gives them a bed and sends them to school. They grow much of their own food, and hsve sicknesses that need tending like the Red-eye (Pinkeye) , tertiary syphilis and malaria.

We know that the best we can do is provide a bandaid, but they struggle along. We're hoping to give them a leg up with this fine show.

We're firing up the engines on Overall Junction for what may be the last from OJ. A benefit for Monic Childrens Center. They take in street kids in Uganda and give them a family atmosphere to grow up in andwith.

For anyone looking for deeper immersion into Early Blues Literature (1890-1943) - the music, the characters, the backstories, the many settings, the travels of the Blues people as they are set against the Great Migration - I will be teaching or co-teaching several weeklong courses at Common Ground again this year, as follows:

Blues Icons, a week of listening to Youtubes of old Blues Guys, along with me yammering about the context of each of the players;

Women's Blues, co-taught with Lea Gilmore. Specifically focusing on the role of female singers and musicians, their toughness and their impact across the music industry

FInally, for advanced pickers who are looking for a challenge, I'll be assisting Bill Ellis in his course on the Music of Rev. Gary Davis. If you're up to the challenge on this one, learning Rev. Davis's licks will open many musical doors for you.

I'm also involved in the late afternoon Sing in the Chapel, but that's just for fun. The rest of the courses are for folks who are seriously into the miasmic phenomenon we call The Blues.

There's all kinds of things going on there, including a festival at the end of the week.
