Hi everyone..........
So, so far I have held back on expressing my opinion on social media with regards to censorship and the oppression of freedom of speech that seems to be ramping up in 2020. I did not express my opinion and disgust in the fact that my friends and colleagues within the Music, Arts, Theatre and Dance Industry, who are still unable to return back to work (or receive any support), despite the fact our Government deems it fine for everyone to return to the pub. Nor did I express any opinion when our Government decided that no music shall be played in any restaurant, shop or public venue and that these venues will be fined in doing so. Then I woke this morning to this... now, I am not saying that artists, producers and musicians should not be recognised for the music they produce, nor should they not receive their royalties for doing so, however it seems to me that there continues to be one rule for the corporate big guns who can secretly do deals behind closed doors to allow their artists to continue to perform online but another rule for the rest of us. Music, Arts, Theatre and Dance is a an expression of freedom, an expression of love and community and should never be censored by social media CEO's and Government leaders. Now please understand, in order to bring these live streaming shows to you at the moment, I pay a premium price. I pay monthly subscriptions in order to use the streaming software, I pay monthly subscriptions in order to use the social media sites to allow you access to my shows. I believe that Music, Arts, Theatre and Dance should be available to all and not censored or oppressed as seems to be the case more and more by our so called industry leaders. Enough is enough, who exactly is facebook protecting? The artists? producers,? the creative community? I doubt it. Enough said.
