Hello lovely Leeds lot, we are looking for a new talent to play at our next event at Hyde Park Book Club on the 28th of February 🎛️

This is a paid gig and you will be warming up for a local legend!🌟

If you’re interested, please DM us a little bit about yourself and a mix no longer than 60 minutes by 20th January 🎧

We’re looking for a mix that aligns with the Lift Your Feet sound - any BPM as long as it comes back to a soulful and jazzy core ☄️

Our first party of 2025 goes like this 🚴‍♂️

Absolutely thrilled to invite back our extended family member Filip Z Konopi for a special ALL NIGHT LONG set.

We will also be making our return to our home space at The Light Studio, York Railway Institute for this extra special dance 🍃🍃🍃

Fil is one of the absolute legendary selectors here in York. He played our first ever party back in 2023.

Nowadays, he is know for his long all vinyl sessions at Sotano with our fellow LYF fam member Joe Hell but his history goes back further.

As a founder of the fondly remembered Rhumboogie, together with Sam Jefferies - Fil was one of the modern purveyors of the DIY party scene as we know it in York. Hosted in an art gallery off Micklegate, these mega parties brought a diverse range of people from the community together - providing an alternative to the commercial club spaces in the city. You could hear the finest soul and disco at the start of the night, before taking in the heavier sounds of techno and electro towards the end.

Suffice to say, as he’s been collecting records for DECADES now, we thought Fil richly deserved a session where he could provide his take on the Lift Your Feet dancefloor from the opening bell until close - all by himself, taking us through the levels and full range of the sounds we know you love.

Starting the new year with a 💥…

We are thrilled to announce a new residency at Leeds’ finest audiophile bar,

This will be EVERY Thursday - yep, we going weekly! - from 19:00 until late ⏰

Our usual crew will be playing our favourites alongside guests, whilst also digging deep into our record collections playing bits you may not usually hear on LYF dance-floors 🤓

🚨 UPDATE FOR OUR UPCOMING YORK PARTY 🚨

Unfortunately due to issues out of our control, we are no longer able to host this month’s party with at The Light Studio, York Railway Institute.

The venue has a big conference booking that now requires the whole space, so we have been asked to step down. Fear not, we absolutely love the venue and will be back here for our next party in the new year.

🎉 The party must go on though! Luckily, we have been able to arrange a new venue that still meets our DIY ethos…and on the same date!

🎹 The dance will be held in the beautiful main recording room with a gorgeous vibe and, naturally, incredible acoustics! As the space is upstairs, we will have a lovely loft party on our hands.

Our usual LYF stamp will go into the lighting and decor. Additionally, the max capacity is now 100, creating a more intimate setting.

As usual, we will be running our bar full of the tastiest booze and fizziest pop (other associated drinks available too) !!

All in all, we are feeling really good for this dance ☺️

ACCESSIBILITY: as a result of the venue move, the space is only accessible up a flight of stairs. We are really sorry if this change now affects you - please DM us and we can provide further information, and absolutely offer full refunds where requested.

Rachel (aka The Dangers of Jazz) is a vinyl DJ from Leeds whose recent projects include her disco and house heavy “Freedom of Movement” club night, as well as a weekly residency at music lovers’ hideaway, .

Originally a guitar and bass player, she got into music through listening to the weird, experimental sounds of progressive rock and jazz fusion – think Genesis, Frank Zappa, Herbie Hancock, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Nowadays, she plays an eclectic mix of deep and (often Latin infused) house music, downtempo chuggers, 12” disco groovers, and anything that sounds good on a gorgeous sound system.

We are absolutely beaming at the prospect Rachel’s set and know this party is going to be an education as well as an amazing dance 🪩

Tina wowed us at this past May with an unforgettable set at , selling out and igniting the basement all night. We’re excited to bring her sounds to the York family!

Tina Edwards is a highly respected DJ, broadcaster, curator and music journalist. You’ll hear her regularly on Worldwide FM, BBC Radio 3, Bandcamp Weekly and more. She also hosts the podcast series My Year In Sound, which has featured Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Tash LC and Bradley Zero.

Tina is the Editor of Listen Zine and works closely with high-end speaker brand KEF. She’s written for Downbeat, The Guardian, Mixmag, and others.

As a DJ, Tina’s eclectic style has seen her share stages with Coco Maria, Gilles Peterson and Ron Trent. She’s played at festivals such as Lost Village, Wilderness, and Camp Bestival. Her own event, Love Is Everywhere at GROW Hackney, is a bi-annual Jazz Dance party where she blends jazz, samba, Latin, house and more.

Tina has long been a key advocate for UK Jazz, curating shows for artists like Sons of Kemet, KOKOROKO, and Nubya Garcia - supporting them early in their careers. Her passion for the genre also led her to present the BBC 1 documentary Jazz UK: Spitting Fire. She co-runs re:sonate with Tim Garcia, whilst also co-running Q***r Jazz, a platform celebrating LGBTQIA+ jazz artists supported by Arts Council England.

We’re also thrilled to have warming up the dance floor. A master selector with deep club experience, Mike’s played alongside Floating Points, Jamie XX, Mala, including early shows in Croatia before the boom.

Our residents and will keep the energy flowing all night.

It is a TRUE blessing to throw the York family a dance with one of our heroes and true legend in the game - beloved by everyone for his commitment to the form and community driven ethos. You guys have shown us your love for the Light Studio, now we give back a special party this autumn.

Charlie Dark brings more than just amazing records to the dance - wherever he goes, he’s an ambassador for good and a centre of energy.
