We were just putting the finishing on touches on the virtual tour, working on a schedule for subcontractors and so excited to break ground, and something told me to slow down. Two weeks later we are in a world wide shut down- if you will, and so many weddings are being postponed. Sadly, the construction of Walnut Hill Weddings and Events will be postponed as we evaluate the financial impact this will not only have for us but for the entire economy.
We hope to pick up where we left off soon, but I’m trusting God to nudge me when the time is right, and now just doesn’t seem right. Prayers for all who have had to postpone their wedding, for all who have had to cancel big plans, for all who will struggle financially due to this. I’m happy for our health and that we are still blessed In so so many ways. I always choose to find the positive, whenever possible and I will continue to dream big and work hard. I will not see this as a lost project, but a project on hold. Thanks to everyone who has supported and cheered us along this far. God Bless all of you. ❤️❤️❤️

From now, until opening day I will be revealing all the plans and dreams I have for this special venue. One of them being to provide a white horse for couples and brides to take photos with 🥰

Last fall, I decided to search for a horse for my youngest son to try out (hoping for a white horse, but knowing that would be a long shot) I posted an add in search of a kid safe horse and Mr. Snowman arrived two days later!

God keeps reassuring me that these dreams of ours can become a reality. He keeps opening door after door! We can’t wait to provide a beautiful experience, venue and backdrop for the biggest day of your life!

The venue is soooo close to going up! Right now I’m dreaming about springtime and flowers. LOTS of flowers......I would love to dedicate the three acres surrounding the venue to flowers, flowers and more flowers. Wouldn’t it be fabulous for the Bride to hand-pick her bouquet?
I’m open for tips or referrals to green-thumb gurus, on how to bring this part of the vision into reality!

String-light courtyard, as well as bride and groom suites, will be part of Walnut Hill! These two pictures inspire me!!! Although we won’t have a window this size or a Mountain View from the bridal suite, I will be going for this “feel”.

Also we have an area planned for outdoor weddings as well!

I haven’t posted in a while because I had taken a break over the Holiday working towards ground breaking, but just a quick update for those wondering: We are still very close to breaking ground and we are just working out details on the septic system.....TMI?!?! 😬

Our Family pictures were taken at the building site! We couldn’t think of a better place to define US:)

With all the twists and turns that come with a project of this magnitude, we can feel defeated some days, truly overwhelmed at times. We’ve realized this is so similar to how life is. Many twists and turns and unpredictable occurrences but we keep moving forward.

We are getting closer to ground breaking every day, and we are growing more excited about this journey each day. We can’t say for sure if we will be open for weddings in the fall of 2020, yet, but that’s what we are hoping for. We will definitely be rolling for 2021, so keep us in mind for that for sure! Please share our page with any newly engaged couples that may be looking for a fresh, clean, and beautiful venue for late 2020, or 2021!

I’ve been praying so much about this journey we are on. Diving into the unknown is scary. I feel that trusting and praying and believing is the biggest part of the battle. Some days I want to give up bc this all seems overwhelming. Then I see that things fall into place when you let them. Another piece has fallen into place as I wanted a beautiful white horse for Brides to photo with if they choose, I also wanted a nice horse my kids could use in 4h. The perfect horse came up, and was even delivered to our home. God is good, all the time. Just another affirmation that we are on the right track. I’ll keep looking for those small miracles. ❤️❤️❤️

Drawing up a design inspiration plan for the bride and groom rooms today. I’m loving the simplistic elegance of some of these pieces. As a bride, would you prefer more “frill” or a “simplistic elegance” ? I feel like I’m leaning towards the simplistic side of things but I’d love to hear your feedback! Some of these images most definitely lean more towards the groom space, but I’d like to pull from some of these for the bride space as well. Please tell me your thoughts!!!

A DREAM written down with a date becomes a GOAL. A goal broken down into steps becomes a PLAN. A plan backed by action becomes REALITY.

We Love making spaces beautiful for others to enjoy. With one of my DREAMS already becoming a REALITY, I decided to go for another DREAM.

I grew up on a farm in central Nebraska. We always worked together as a family and I really wanted that lifestyle for my own family, and having the chance to provide that along with creating a beautiful space on our property is well on its way to becoming a REALITY.

Here are some of pictures of transformed spaces from the past few months. We are Keeping on, in the home restoration business because it is our passion. My passion has always been design.

Some of these design elements will be seen in the Walnut Hill Venue. A modern farmhouse vibe with clean industrial flair, along with some rustic warmth, we be incorporated into the space. We can not wait to bring it all together!

Most of you who are following this journey know us personally; know the back story of our lives and who we are/where we’ve been. Every one of you showing love and support by simply following this page and I’m so thankful for that.

When I decided to latch onto a complete stranger who I found through social media, and now depend on to help me off the cliff during a panic, and she responds with words of wisdom from the Bible, well that’s truly living how we are all supposed to and I admire her to the ends of the Earth. A Complete Stranger taking time to help me strengthen my faith and set aside my worries.

From now until the building is up I will be posting about the building process and diving into the unknown. It is scary and exhilarating and I will just have to carry these words close to my heart for the next 6-9 months. Thank you again Amanda for helping me through this. Welcome to Walnut Hill Weddings and Events! This is the site that will soon occupy a beautiful building where many will enjoy the biggest day of their lives! We are so honored and overjoyed with the opportunity the provide this space. With a background in construction and design, and a passion for entertaining and people we can’t wait to bring it all together in one amazing space.

We are located conveniently in between Omaha and Lincoln, near Waverly Ne. Our 17 acre historical farmstead consists of beautiful open meadows and many walnut and pine trees. Follow along through the building adventures! We are hoping things move quickly enough to book weddings for Summer of 2020!

The venue space will allow for groups of 300.
