I will always remember this couple in a special way, I was dealing with the loss of my sister the week of their wedding. She had been battling liver cancer and the week of their wedding the doctors told us my sister had only days of living. She lived in Tennessee and I was down there spending her last few days with her while I missed their rehearsal. A dear friend back at home got their decor ready for me, washing candle wax to be exact. If you’re in the industry you know how time consuming that can be.

Alexa and Nathan still trusted me with their day. They were so patient and kind. Alexa was so understanding when I called her to tell her the news. Nathan is the funnest person ever so he kept me laughing all day. I am so thankful to have had such an amazing couple during such a hard time.

So this is just a gracious reminder. We do have lives outside of our work. Yes, your wedding is one of the most important days in your life, we as vendors take that seriously. But sometimes we can’t do a 6:00pm for a meeting or tour because we want to be home for dinner with our families. Or sometimes we may charge extra to do that one thing because it takes quality time away from our loved ones or maybe we didn’t reply quick enough to your email because we are out of town on a trip!

As we prepare for 2024 wedding season I just ask to be nice to your vendors. You never know what someone is going through and they all have lives outside of our work 🫶🏼

As most of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Back in September I put on a shoot in honor of Breast Cancer with four amazing survivors. At one point in the shoot we were all sitting around the table talking about their stories. Each story was different from the other but one thing they all had in common was their strength. These ladies are strong and powerful.
