Shanghai Lockdown Through My Eyes

The month of April 2022 lockdown in shanghai, brought into perspective a lot of things for different people. Be it disappointment, frustrations, contempt, self-reliance, perseverance, kindness, selflessness, etc. There are aspects of humanity that we have lost touch with as a society and I saw it coming back during this lockdown.

4 days into a 5 five days lockdown, I was informed by one of the volunteers in my neighbourhood, that the lockdown was going to be extended. I barely had enough food and water to last me past the initial 5 days and that sent me into a full panic mode. And it’s not like I didn’t try to get some food before the lockdown, I did, but they just never arrived. Every time I attempted to buy vegetables online, they were always sold out.
All I had to eat was junk food. I told myself I will use this opportunity to fast but sometimes I found myself shaking just because I was hungry. I had rice porridge in the afternoons and yoghurt and potato chips for dinner. I eventually run out of those too.

9 days into the lockdown another foreign friend in my community called me and told me she had no drinking water and food in her apartment also. I decided to contact one of the volunteers and told him of our situation and he quickly mobilized a group to help us out.

THP VOLUNTEERS SUPPORT SHANGHAI

In recent weeks, Shanghai the once vibrant, and economic hub of China has become an epicentre of the covid19 with deafening silence since Wuhan. The city has gone under 7 + 7 total a lockdown after 48hr closure Grid management. Shanghai is a cosmopolitan city with local Shanghainese mixed with people from other parts of China and across the world. Often for its booming economic opportunities, vibrant nature and rapid infrastructure development. It has indeed become the home for many.

When challenges befall it takes a collective positive attitude to heal and soldier through to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Answering the call to action, THPers in shanghai put on their brave wings to render selfless support to their respective communities. For a city that has given life and livelihood to millions, it’s only right and human to support each other in the best way possible.

During this lockdown, THP understands, people, and partners are affected differently, however, THP stand ready to offer any support as much as possible.
It is our hope that through these efforts, people in need of help could get support in time.

THP Joins AustCham: A new bridge to Strengthen China-Australia International Cooperation.

We officially joined the Australian Chamber of Commerce to strengthen the international cooperation and exchanges between China and Australia in event marketing and brand communication and become a new bridge for cooperation between Chinese and Australian enterprises.

#Happy Dragon Boat Festival The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival), a folk festival celebrated for over 2,000 years. Historically, during the festival, Chinese people practice various customs thought to dispel disease, and invoke good health. Dragon boat racing is said to originate from the legend of people paddling out on boats to seek the body of patriotic poet Qu Yuan (343–278 BC), who drowned himself in a River. E.G.G. WALKATHON 2021 CHARITY EVENT It’s Shanghai’s first largest charity event for the year. The route is situated in the central part of the city passing through Century Park, Century Avenue, a 10km walk along the riverside to the celebrity check-in points. The route continues through Pudong Exhibition Hall (that XI Da visited) symbolizing the 30th Anniversary of the development of the Pudong area and through the beautiful #Shanghai Library East Building under construction. This year’s E.G.G.
