Altered reality 🔎 Vincent probably made this drawing while he was working at Goupil & Cie, an art dealership in The Hague. We see a view of the Binnenhof, near the Plaats, which he passed every day. If you were to compare the drawing with photographs of the time, you would see that Vincent made some things up. For instance, the corner building is missing a storey in the drawing. Also, the lanterns as Vincent drew them never existed, at least not in The Hague. 💡
How do you think Vincent's creative changes to the scene in his drawing reflect his unique artistic vision and interpretation of reality?
