It’s a wild week here in the garage studio! I’m working on the largest wedding Kaldenblooms has done yet! Beautiful things are loading…
Bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, floor pieces, alter compotes, so many centerpieces.
I’m very thankful I feel so good at 34 weeks 🤰🏼, but I think it’s mostly a testament to the “just keep moving” mentality I’ve had this whole journey.
I’ve got some fun florist friends that will be joining me in the studio the rest of the week to crank this beautiful wedding out!
I’ll give you a few sneak peeks along the way! ❄️
Sort of a pinch me moment? Never in a million year did I ever think that I would have 500 Playa Blanca roses in our little studio space. We have a HUGE and beautiful wedding happening next weekend and the roses are the first to arrive!
They will get processed tonight and be used in bridal bouquets, centerpieces and alter pieces.
BUT FIRST- We must get through the Victorian Stroll! See you Saturday 4:30-7pm! Grab some amazing fresh and beautiful things from us 🎄❤️
31 weeks pregnant and 6,000 tulips hit the ground today! 😂 Three of us planted them all in just over 2 hours. I’m excited to have doubled our tulip production this year! We’ll be offering a shipped tulip subscription in addition to our local and Northern Iowa Bouquet Club and more!
In very exciting news…yesterday we got all the dahlias divided and stored for their winter slumber!!
It was a big goal for me to get these divided this fall rather than spring with baby on the way! And don’t you worry, we had a decent dahlia tuber crop! We’ll have another tuber sale early spring for you all to enjoy!
Storage method we use- I store them either as clumps or individual tubers in totes with holes drilled into them for breathing, and I use peat moss. You can trial potting soil, wood chips, etc. You really just have to try and find what works for you! We then keep them in a farmhouse basement that says about 50ish degrees throughout the winter.
Ideally you want to keep your tubers somewhere dark and above freezing and below 40-50 degrees. We use what we have!
Looking for info on how we dig and get our dahlias ready for storage in our farm? Here ya go! I’ll talk more about the method of storage I use when I get to that point.
I’m planning to divide my dahlias this year now instead of in the spring. Either is fine. Typically I divide in March but we’re trying to take things off our plates for this winter/spring!
A long evening in the garage studio last night! 😴😴
These are the two compotes before they have been filled with florals. This is the “greened in” stage! Such beautiful fall colors 😍
It was a heck of a day yesterday! Whoofta but a late night in the garage studio finishing up a BEAUTIFUL wedding! More tomorrow ❤️
