History that should never be forgotten.

Mr. Buck Colbert Franklin is known as the lawyer who won the court victory for black residents after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

Franklin was born in 1879 and was named after his grandfather, who had been an enslaved African of a Chickasaw family in Oklahoma. After completing his studies, he opened up his law practice in the predominately white town of Ardmore, Oklahoma. However, the racial tension at the time was so strong, he decided to relocate to Tulsa and focus his practice on helping people in the black communities.

The Greenwood District of Tulsa was one of the wealthiest enclaves of blacks in the south, known as Black Wall Street. After the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre that destroyed the region, he led the legal fight against the City Council of Tulsa, who passed an ordinance keeping Tulsa’s blacks from rebuilding the neighborhoods that had been affected. Instead, the city had plans to rezone the area and make it into a commercial area.
Franklin filed suit against the city of Tulsa before the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Franklin penned his experience in an autobiography. However, he died in 1960 before the book was published. John Hope Franklin, one of his four children, went on to become a prominent historian and civil rights advocate.

Good morning Loma soul friends and family. We were planning to reopen this week but, my daughter is sick with normal cold symptoms. Due to the rise in Covid-19 we got her tested, and we must wait for her results before we can reopen the shop. Please keep us in your prayers, and we will keep you posted.

Good afternoon to all supports of Loma Soul Food LLC. We we will be opening our doors up tomorrow ready to serve you with our delicious enchiladas and fish taco. I hope you are ready to see us tomorrow because, our baker will have our delicious SOUL CAKES, and our new YUMMY BUN CAKE tomorrow and Friday.
We will be closed Thursday for a funeral service and we will be closed Saturday for our first catering event. Please reach out to us if your interested in our new catering packages we'll be adding to our menu. Lastly, if any customer who is Interested in us catering a event of yours, but you would be interested in us cooking a dish that is not on our menu. Unfortunately, we had to terminate our contract with DoorDash. However, we are with Postmates. You can also order at LomaSoul.com and we will have it delivered to you if you aren't the "food app" type of person.
