Artist Profile: Toronto Hustle

Mark Kufner aka and label head of has been a fixture in Toronto’s underground dance music scene for the last three decades, and has released on some of the most respected labels in house music including Freerange Records, WOLF Music Recordings, Local Talk, Distant music, Nick Holders DNH Records and Ron Allen’s Strobe Records. His combined knowledge and passion for straight up house music has seen him play at many of Toronto’s premier venues and warehouse events and he has shared the stage with such iconic figures in dance music including Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Honey Dijon, Jimpster, Mood II Swing, Dennis Ferrer, Kenny Dope, Dam Swindle, Satoshi Tomiie, Ron Trent, Demuir, and Derrick Carter to name a few. Toronto Hustle is known for playing an eclectic mixture of new, old and obscure records.

2019 saw Mark launch the Vinyl only label Selections, and 5 years later, the label has become synonymous with a quality over quantity approach. At 15 releases in the label has successfully bridged the gap between iconic figures in dance music and fresh, up and coming talents. The esteemed roster includes artists like Nick Holder, Kai Alcé, Demuir, Black Loops, Dan Only, Nico Lahs, Intr0beatz, 83 West, Javonntte, Jon Dixon, Shaka, Jon Cutler and many many more!

Artist Profile: Dam Swindle ()

From deep to disco, tech to soul, they join the dots between the past and the present with their own sense of storytelling and do so in clubs around the world, as well as in their own studio. House might be the root of the Dam Swindle sound, but it takes nourishment from a much wider world of music.

Since 2013, the pair has also established their own Heist Recordings () as a well respected label that is home to the majority of their own originals, though other underground mainstays such as Aus Music and Classic Music Company have also come calling. Heist is more than just a label, though - it is a breeding ground for talents old and new; somewhere talent is nurtured and allowed to develop.

Dam Swindle are famously avid collectors of both old and new records, and it shows in their DJ sets, which keep you on your toes as they move freely and skillfully through different times, places and sounds. Rather than limiting themselves to a certain feeling or mood, Dam Swindle can call on classic house, obscure disco, African funk, soulful techno and plenty in between, all with the aim of making those special moments that crowds never forget. It is for that reason that their name has become a real stamp of authority and invention in the dance music world. Whatever they do, then, this pair do with irresistible charm.

Artist Profile: Mike Gibbs
Mike Gibbs () is one of the few DJ’s who can say they can play from the toughest to the tenderest of any genre. As a pillar in Toronto’s underground music scene, and one of the co-founders of the esteemed Box of Kittens, Mike Gibbs has gained international recognition, playing alongside acts including Ben Klock, Keri Chandler and Chris Liebing.

For 15 years the Box of Kittens collective have provided community-centred electronic music events in Toronto, Canada and Berlin, Germany. As a leader in Toronto’s house and techno scene, they helped reenergize the underground with a series of loft and warehouse parties beginning in 2007, expanding with collaborative efforts such as the forward-thinking Foundry and Shelter NYE; to hosting across Europe including Berlin's Berghain complex and Griessmuehle, Poznan, Poland, and off-ADE in Amsterdam. As one of the few organizations to have its roots in secret, non-public events, Box of Kittens has grown in size while always retaining the core ethos of an inclusive atmosphere with friends, music lovers, and a high quality soundsystem.

Although their events have consistently put a focus on their residents and local artists, Box of Kittens also became known for bringing many international stars to Toronto for the first time - KiNK, Marc Romboy, Seth Troxler, Keinemusik (&ME and Adam Port), Steffi and Special Request, to name a few. To date hosting over 100 events, the majority sold out, and igniting a trend of daytime parties in Toronto. Recognized as one of the top dance music promoters in the country, Box of Kittens demonstrate the possibilities of how music events and dance spaces can and should be organized while continuing to “tap into multiple scenes and generations: creating a space where the many nightlife subcultures of Toronto could converge” (Vice Magazine)

Artist Profile: The Foolish Lover ()

Toronto’s very own Kevin McMorran II
(aka Monokromatic ) is a Multifaceted Producer, DJ, Prolific Audio Engineer, Sound Tech & Song writer. Kevin started his original DJ Alias “Monokromatic” in 2010, playing open-format & bass orientated music. Releasing mixes, mashups & remixes of his favourite tracks, along with a string of releases & an album.

In 2020, his love for music deepened even further, and he decided to work on a new alias, The Foolish Lover. With meticulous selections, live sets & flawless abilities behind the decks, Kevin has become a
true staple in Toronto’s underground.
In the past year, Kevin has played a roster of memorable parties across the city with his drum machine in tow, such as; Coda, Vertigo, CZ, Secret Society, Box of Kittens, Return Revolve, Kinetic, & his own parties with friends as .

Martin Groove’s signature style is a fusion of House and Disco, characterized by funky basslines, soulful vocals, and irresistibly groovy rhythms. Whether it’s the infectious energy of classic disco anthems or hypnotic deep house beats, Martin Groove’s music is a celebration of life, love, and the universal language of dance. Non has always had an above average love for all types of music. While growing up she was constantly burning CDs and making ipod playlists for any and every occasion.
In 2015, when she unexpectedly moved from suburbia to Toronto, she dove into the underground scene and tarted spending all her time at clubs like Coda, Toika, and Comfort Zone. Her passion for house music and desire to get the people dancing, led her to start mixing in her bedroom. In 2017 she had her first gig and has since played her groovy sound all over Toronto!
