Progress: I have stenciled the design onto the tunic and am now covering it in simple embroidery stitches. Needlework is not my forte, so to me it looks a bit 'primitive'. I suppose that's a good thing for a Norse time period?

It is the season of grey and damp days. For me this means a need to hibernate and reserve my energy. However. I still do continue to try finishing projects.

Done all the seam p tacking and now to figure out how to transfer the embroidery design.

I found the energy to get some of the trim stitching done 😁💕 Cuffs and bottom complete. Tomorrow I begin the neckline.

A while ago I had asked for help and a good friend donated a generous sum. I extended a Gift Cert for a future SCA tunic.

I am now happily delivering on the project. We have met, decided on a lovely mid weight wool fabric and design. Off to create the Viking feast/court tunic with a very fancy neckline.

One side note - of course it would be the day of the event that the dress stitching at the loops failed 😔 but because of the straight lacing it created quite an interesting fan shape and still held the back together nicely. No panic, we just carried on. Wish I had a picture and am thinking I'd like to see if I can recreate the effect but put one on the other side so it's balanced up the back 🤔

Playing with natural Indigo Powder (Indigofera Tinctoria) as a skin stain. Smells like earthy green cut hay-damp timothy hay. No skin irritation or reaction and letting it set dry. Supposed to "leave an intriguing tinge of blue to the hair. Use gloves to prevent skin staining."

Sorry it’s been so long since I posted! I had to restock some energy but am again beginning to come back from muse abandonment. Why just yesterday I was antiquing in Puyallup with my friend and found these old lamp parts in a bin and fell in love. They are to become hanging glass art in my backyard.

I just finished another Viking/Norse inspired wool and faux fur hat. Sized for a SM to M head. Edge to edge hand-sewn and reversible. $20 as is or I can embellish with historical design and fancy stitch in color on the seams. Shipping from 98042 not included.
