The very fabulous Lesley is putting this bike into the Sports Jumble sale tomorrow (Saturday 13:30 - 15:30, Acton Village Hall); plus some other cycling tops, shoes and other paraphenalia. It's getting on in years (aren't we all?) but it's been carefully looked after and is still a great bike for anyone dipping their toes into standard or middle distance du/tri.
Grab yourself an Easter bargain for a good cause!

Any donated shoes that are left at the end of our sale will be donated to this amazing group so even if you have shoes that aren’t saleable, bring them anyway to avoid them going into landfill.

JogOn take old running shoes that have outlived their performance function, but are still good to wear, and we recycle them and distribute them via Charities, NGOs and support micro-businesses.

Who likes a challenge?

How about a big, multi sport challenge?

Starting on 1st May, you will have 31 days to complete an Ironman distance, with a twist.

You must travel the distance under your own steam.
You must use at least three different ways of travel but can use as many as you want; they do not have to be swim/bike/run

The minimum distance for each leg must be at least 2.4 miles/3.8km.

The total distance must be at least 140.6 miles/226.3km.

Donate a minimum of £12.50 to my Parkinson's UK fundraising page, note that you're doing the 'Wonky Try' and then get training!

Spot awards for most types of travel and most imaginative. You must be able to record your efforts using a tracking app/watch/tracker and submit this as evidence.

I hear rumours that some more virtual challenges are required. The amazing Sarah finished the Proclaimers 500 challenge last year plus at least a couple more, several of you earned medals in other ways and the Wonky Twilight Trail was a huge success.

What shall we kick off with?

Colchester Foodbank is the busiest in the East of England and has dwindling stock reserves, with demand having risen by 12% yet food donations decreasing in recent months.

Company of Runners are launching a series of guided group runs. Your entry “fee” will be to bring us an item from the foodbank shopping list ( we’ll share that list and any urgent items needed that week, but it need only be as little as a bottle of shampoo or a small bag of rice), we’ll then also add to this regular haul and take to the foodbank.

We’ll explain more over the next few days.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.
It just doesn't seem enough. I'm exhausted, elated and just about to hit the gin.

43 entrants, 39 runners, 35 portions of chips, several bananas, packets of crisps, Moam stripes and a lot of sweaty hugs later, there will be about £500 being donated to Parkinson's UK once I've sorted out the expenses.

Massive and grateful thanks to all these amazing people:
Kelly Pepper of Raw Trails Events
Vicki at The Acton Crown
Darren Guiheen at DL Design Associates Ltd
Richard Sandford
Melonie Tatnell-Evans
Steve Roberts
Tony Robinson
Kat Ross
Ben Cuthbert
Martyn Brewster

Lots of pics were taken and will be posted later.
Event results on the link, although Paul Robey really didn't finish in 39 minutes!

Next week's tail runner, Ben, is out on the course now checking the route and doing a final review of the navigation instructions.

Spotted him as I was walking the dogs at 06:30. Big thanks for giving us your time Ben, although your smile suggested it wasn't a tough assignment 😎

They've arrived!

The Wonky Jubilee Virtual Distance medals are as amazing in reality as they looked.

Four are spoken for, who's next?

Donate at least £7 to my London Marathon charity page, do a distance under your own steam that contains or is larger than 7 and it's all yours 😎

Registrations are coming in but still about 90/10 women to men - what is it with you guys?

Start any time between 16:00 and 19:00, walk, run or crawl (although maybe not crawl) and get back to earn your plate of chips. Starts and finishes at Acton Village Hall (behind The Acton Crown for added convenience).

What's not to love?

I'm afraid the original medal I published just wasn't good enough, so the (now) four peeps who've earned theirs will be in receipt of one of these each by the weekend (hopefully!).

More are available if you want to earn yours: walk, jog, run, swim, pedal or paddle a distance with a 7 in it (or more) and you too could add one to your bling collection!

Just donate at least £7 here (and comment what it's for!) https://tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/lisa-dalton

I have Parkinson's. I was diagnosed in 2018 and decided that nothing would change and I would continue to do the crazy stuff that I'd already been doing. I fundraise for Parkinson’s UK because I want

Whilst our launch event is going to be for the more active, what about a virtual balloon release?

£3 per balloon, they're virtually released and then we can follow them for a month to see who travels the furthest?

I'm giving it some thought but the more balloons we sell the further they'll all travel!

There may well also be some free ones for lucky recipients.

Thanks so much to everyone who liked my page; my plan is not to bombard you with spam every day but to create fun and sometimes challenging events that will encourage you to engage muscles and brains and raise some pennies for Parkinson's UK at the same time.
