It's December!!!

That means it's Bonus Point time!!!!

This week: headwear!

Any Christmas / Holiday hat or cap or scarf or headband or tiara will get you bonus point. 1 per decorated head to a cap of 3 (allowances made for 1/2 person teams).

Speaking of Christmas, you know who doesn't have a Christmas Album? TOOL. I can't say why, and inquiries will be made to Maynard James Keenan, but I expect he has better things to do than answer me and my nonsense.

It's Thursday. I've got trivia heading your way tonight!

Two great games that start at 7!

It's the perfect way (along with the beer and food at Ignite) to pregame the Browns game. After 8:15, it will be the perfect distraction during huddles, timeouts, commercials. And, if you don't care about the game, you don't need to watch!

This is a wonderful modern world we live in!

Also: Remember Corn, Beans, and Squash were the three major crops of early indigenous Americans!

Ignite Brewing Company (Barberton)!!!

Tonight we celebrate my 500th Show!!!

And is it a celebration without cake? I don't know, I've never seen a reason to try.

I've got a couple cakes ordered and I can't wait to see what they say. I mean, I know what I want them to say, but the decorator will have to read my handwriting. So, it could be anything.

So, come on out, grab a Scarlet (or another Ignite beer, apparently they have other beer). Maybe a dog, maybe some of the fantastic buffalo chicken dip. Then top off the meal and drinks with 2 great games of trivia and some cake!!!!

Random fact of the night: Mukluks are boots.

Globe Games Breakdown!!!!!

The Globe Games are cash games that are the culmination of Sporcle's trivia league ("The Globe") seasons. They each have a $1000 prize pool!

The fall season just wrapped up and for the teams who are in the league, here's how you sign up for the Globe Games.

First: The closest Globe Games will be:

December 7 at 2pm at Railroad Brewing Company in Avon (20 teams)
and
December 8 at 2pm at Great Oaks Tavern in Wadsworth (30 teams)

There are also virtual games (one PubQuiz, one Opinionation) on December 7 with random drawings for the prizes.

Second: The invite order:

November 22: Venue League Championship winners can RSVP for the Globe Games.

November 25: Regular season winners from each venue can RSVP for the Globe Games.

November 29: Any league-registered team who competed in 5 regular season games can register for the Globe Games.

Unfortunately for my Houston Pub teams, this means you are eligible only on/after November 29th. because the show stopped before the end of the season, no team was given champion status.

I encourage everyone to sign up. The games are filled with really well-crafted questions. I'll be at the Great Oaks games this time!

Ignite - Brunswick!!

It's Trivia night again!

Trivia is coming your way at 7, two fantastic games,

In addition to being a regular week of trivia, this is also the week of the Globe League championship. Those teams who have played in 10 of the last 19 weeks will be playing for a priority invite to the $1000 prize pool Globe Games coming up December 7 & 8.

First off: look for a question on Jim Thorpe, one of America's greatest athletes ever.

Second, and I can't stress this enough: Ignite has a lot of beer, including Scarlet.

Third:

This is Championship Week for The Globe trivia league! For those who have joined the ongoing league if you have played 10 of the last 20 weeks at Ignite, you are qualified for the championship.

The combined score of the two games tonight will serve as the championship.

All right, On Tap Medina!

First up, the hint: Marilynn Malerba is the US Treasurer, not the Secretary of the Treasury, but the US Treasurer.

I'll be there at 6:30 and it is that time again!

In addition to the regular trivia tonight, it is championship night for The Globe Trivia League!

So, in addition to playing for our normal collection of gift cards, the 5 qualified teams (Scotty Doesn't Know, Don't Expect Much, Just Average, Tequila Mockingbird, and Bowser) who have qualified for the League championship will be playing for priority entrance to the $1000 Globe Games, (coming up December 7th and 8th)

Tonight's winner (combined score for games 1 and 2) will receive the first invite (opening 11/22) the Regular season champ gets the second invite (11/25) and after that, any team with 5 league games can register for any remaining spots on 11/27

Ask me and I'll tell you more tonight!

It's Thursday!

I've practiced and I have the address locked into my GPS. I will remember that trivia at Ignite Brewing - Brunswick starts on Thursday this week!

The rules will be the same as they were on Mondays, but I expect a lot of you since you had 3 extra days to study everything in the world!

So, you'll have no hesitation this week when I ask about Maria Tallchief, America's first prima ballerina, you'll know the answer.

Hey out there, Ignite Brewing Company!

I'll be there at 7 for some trivia tonight!

I haven't hosted since 10/30, so that means 2 things:

1. Please forgive any rust. Unlike most Wednesdays, I may mispronounce something, so please take it easy on me!

2. If I remember, I'll bring my leftover Halloween Candy so that it stops tempting me in my kitchen.

"First Nations" is the name given in Canada to indigenous bands who are not neither Inuit nor Métis.

MONDAY: No Monday trivia (Ignite Brunswick is now on Thursday). I for one am going to head out to Brew Kettle in Hudson and play trivia.

TUESDAY: No Tuesday trivia (Sporcle, as a company, has taken Election Night off), On Tap Medina I'll see you on 11/12)

WEDNESDAY: There IS trivia Wednesday at Ignite (Barberton) at 7, like normal

THURSDAY: There IS trivia Thursday at Ignite Brunswick at 7! My first Thursday show there.

I was told that Houston Pub has suspended Trivia for the time being, please see the sporcle "Find-a-Game" page if you can't make it to Brunswick.

There is trivia this week!

I can't wait to see you all tonight at 6:30!

There will be no trivia next week, so come on out and get your fill tonight. Since it will be 2 long weeks before you see me again at On Tap.

To be exact, I suppose it will be one long week and one regular sized week. (Since Sunday is the longest day of the year according to clocks)

I'll see you tonight and remember Avogadro's Number you don't need to know what Avogadro's Number (or Avogadro's Constant) is, but if you know that it is something, then I have a question for you!

Houston Pub!!!

Tonight we celebrate!!

Trivia at Houston Pub will continue, but my time hosting at Houston Pub comes to an end tonight!

I have been blessed to host here since December 15, 2022 and it has been a fantastic 2 years. For day job reasons and personal life reasons, I need to change my trivia schedule.

So, tonight, we celebrate!!!

Since I won't be there on Halloween itself, tonight there will be bonus points for Halloween themed clothes and costumes!

So, come on out, raise a glass or two, enjoy some spectacular Houston Pub food, and let's have a wonderful send-off.

There will be a coverage host next week on Halloween, and your new regular host, Lizzie, will start November 7. You get to have more celebrations then!
