Lakers vs Spurs

We are excited to welcome the Lakers back to our city! San Antonio has a huge Lakers fan base so these are games that are looked forward to all season long. Seeing Lonnie Walker IV back on our court is going to be very bittersweet for me as he was my favorite player last season and I hated to see him go.

It’s been awhile since LeBron has suited up against the Spurs on our home court… as far as we know, he will be playing tonight. For all the fans that we helped provide seats for tonight, I certainly hope he comes out to play. It’s sure to be a great game!

Our inventory for tomorrow’s Lakers match up is also sold out but we still have some Courtside seats available for the Pelican’s game on Dec 2!

Giving the bucks only their second loss, the most exciting thing to watch is the development of the secondary and how fast they have created a team chemistry although being such a young fresh group not playing with each other for long it’s really looking good with the ball movement and unselfish plays!

It’s GameDay! Tonight the 5-3 Spurs face off against the 4-4 Los Angeles Clippers. With Keldon Johnson and Vassell back in the starting line up, we are in for an additional 40+ point action. Buckle up Spurs Fans this will be a wild ride tonight.

November 2 finds the Spurs toe to toe with the Toronto Raptors. Interestingly enough, the Raptors are the team with the least roster turnover in the entire league this past off season. After winning 48 games to their 34 losses and finishing at 5th in the Eastern Conference, the “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” approach was taken. Their rising star, Precious Achiuwa, is the teams best center and with his ability to combine rim protection, versatility and three-point shooting skills he’ll be a tough opponent for the Spurs. Last season, he held opponents to just 55.5% shooting at the rim… maybe some of the Spurs sharp shooters can help bring that average up!

Spurs fans will not only get to watch a good match up with this veteran team that is out hunting a championship, but they’ll also get to see former Spurs player Thaddeus Young who was traded to the Raptors at the 2021 trade deadline.

October 30 - Minnesota Timberwolves

Home game 3 brings us face to face with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the third time in this young season but for the first time at the AT&T Center. After 2 games on their home court, I’m counting on the Spurs having learned their way around this competitive team that secured the 7th seed in the Western conference last season. The Spurs will definitely have their work cut out for them. There has been a lot of buzz around the Timberwolves on the off season and their NBA media day backed up the hype by showing off a new executive suite of NBA savvy professionals and a roster packed with pure basketball talent. Will they be able to bring it all together to propel their team towards the Championship this year or will it take a year or two to meld? I’m personally looking forward to seeing Karl Anthony Townsend and Rudy Gobert play together. Spurs fans can also look forward to seeing Bryn Forbes return to his former team court. He was traded to the Denver Nuggets half way through the last season and then on to the Timberwolves.

On the Silver and Black side, I’m curious to see if at this point (12 games in, counting pre-season) Coach Pop has a “set” starting line up and who exactly that will be? Johnson, Vassell, Poeltl, McDermott and Jones? Or will any of our 19 year old rookies (Sochan, Branham and Wesley) get minutes tonight? I know we are all shook up at the sudden loss of Primo but we’ll let the details emerge before any comments are said. Definitely looking forward to seeing how Popovich balances developing these young players while encouraging a competitive game that will keep fans engaged.

It’s Gameday! Spurs are hosting the Chicago Bulls at the At&t Center at 7:30pm.
Jeremy Sochan has shown back to back breakout games. With Tre Jones and Sochan forming a gravity defying alley oop combo and Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson having break out season starts averaging over 20 points per game, they’re already bringing back talks of a possible new “Big 3” being established. Let’s continue to lead the league in assists, be patient for the good looks and not force the shot. We do this and the Bulls will stampede home, wondering just how did this pesky group of young future stars out work us?

It’s Gameday!
The Spurs travel far to the “North Star State” and although Minnesota is land to 10,000 lakes it will need more than that to cool off the blaze the Spurs are bringing. The Spurs are coming off a 2 game winning streak, proving that even superstars Joel Embiid and James Harden have to deal with a group of young talent. These players are not only ready to prove their value to the San Antonio Spurs but they’re elevating the ceiling of potential and showing huge growth. Let’s make sure to support our team not only during the Championship seasons; the seasons when they need our support the most are the rebuild years. When was the last time you were at a Spurs game?

It’s the last preseason game and happily for us it’s at home. Then the Spurs have a few days to rest up for their first season game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Tonight’s game brings us our neighbors from the north, the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC didn’t mess around during the 2022 draft pick and were able to sign the much sought after 7 foot tall, Chet Holmgren, as the No. 2 overall draft pick. But unfortunately, in August the 22-year-old promising rookie suffered a foot injury while guarding LeBron James and had surgery a few days later. He will be out recovering and rehabbing for the entire 2022-2023 season. But Thunder fans, and NBA fans in general, will still get to enjoy watching Josh Giddy grow as a contender and see how Shai Gilgeous- Alexander leads the team. It’s been a long few rebuild years for this team and that will make them an interesting matchup for the San Antonio Spurs who are just beginning their full rebuild year.

Based on the last few pre-season games, tonight we will get to see action from our top players (Johnson, Vassell, Poeltl, McDermott, Richardson, Jones, Primo), from our rookies (Sochan, Branham and Wesley) and from our deeper bench. Coach Pop has been making sure that most of the team is getting minutes. I’m looking forward to more of that confident Spur’s ball movement of the last few games!

First Spurs Home Game! Ok, ok… it’s the first preseason home game but I’m just excited to have NBA basketball back in our lives. Tonight the fans get to see the 3 new rookies in person. If the first game against the Houston Rockets is any indicator, they should all get a little play time tonight. We’ll also get to see Vassell and Primo for the first time on the newly designed home court after a well documented summer of intense training. And, of course, the Coyote and the Hype Squad will definitely get us all on our feet and cheering.

Not only do we get to see the Spurs but we also get to enjoy the Orlando Magic on our home court. It’s a great opportunity to see the NBA #1 draft pick, Paolo Banchero, as he settles into game play with professionals.

The Spurs 50th Anniversary season will tip off with an opener against the Charlotte Hornets on October 19. Not only will this be an exciting game against an aggressive team and fan favorite/rising star, LaMelo Ball, but it’s also the night that the Spurs organization will honor basketball legend Manu Ginobili and his induction into the Hall of Fame. If you don’t know who Manu is and why he is important then I don’t have time to tell you here… just know that he won four NBA championships with the Spurs, is a two-time NBA All-star, has an Olympic Gold Medal, is one-third of one of the winningest trios in NBA history, is beloved in San Antonio, Argentina and across the NBA, and is now a Hall of Fame inductee. It will definitely be an event to witness live and in person as his jersey is revealed in the rafters…. especially from a courtside point of view.
