Every parade, we dedicate our walk to someone who has made an impact in our community. It's my pleasure to announce that for the 2024 Southern Decadence Parade, we are dedicating our walk to the fabulous, Southen Decadence Grand Marshall, Team Gold, Vanessa Carr Kennedy!

Vanessa Carr is a native of New Orleans and a proud graduate of Xavier University. She is a past board member of PFLAG of New Orleans and serves on the planning committee for Family Day at Longue Vue Gardens. Vanessa is a former Miss New Orleans Pride 2016 and Miss Louisiana Leatherette 2016. She is also a recipient of the GAA Advocate of the Year Award 2023 and a New Orleans City Council Proclamation 2023 “In Honor of Meaningful Advocacy and Visibility provided to the LGBTQIA+ Community.”
Vanessa is an advocate for the LGBT community and has participated in and coordinated fundraising efforts to support local charities. She is also a Musician/Singer/Songwriter and will be releasing her first original album due out in 2024!
