Gaddesby Gallop 2024.
Saturday 21st December, 2024.

The Gaddesby Gallop is a cross country race through the villages of Barsby, Ashby Folville and onto Gaddesby. The race is famous for making runners go through drainage pipes, a brook and other suitably seasonal obstacles on the last Saturday before Christmas.

Probably the most logistically difficult photo I take each year and something always seems to prevent me from getting the shot just right. The worst thing is that I have to wait an entire year to try and improve and try again!

Here are a fuller set of photos from the last couple of times I (Mehul) was at the cycle circuit while I was taking a rest before and after running the Valencia Marathon.

The photos were taken by combining panning the camera with a long shutter speed, which gives a sense of motion, with an off-camera flash, which also freezes the subject.

Yesterday, on Friday 1st November, we hosted our annual Presentation evening where we awarded prizes to the individuals who won awards during this year's 'Summer League' as well as to the teams who won prizes for their achievements throughout the whole year.

We want to thank everyone who came along and helped celebrate our collective successes and to all the staff at The Venue @ DMU. The evening was made possible by the organisation of many people behind the scenes but especially thanks to our Chair, Simon Mayes, who shared hosting duties with Dave Lodwick.

The Leicestershire Road Running League's Annual presentation of awards was split in 2024, with the awards from the 'Summer League' given out on Friday 1st November at The Venue @ DMU.

Aylestone junior parkrun celebrates its 10th birthday! AJPR is run by and has been run by the most amazing people. The volunteers who help support it each week, along with the children who come and give it a go on Sunday morning make it a delight to attend.

Fractured Marathon 2024. Friday 28th June.
Organised by Peak Running

Ten timed laps around a scenic 2.6-mile course, which will start every half hour on the half hour. Participants run for 5 hours from 7pm until midnight. Teams, or solo runners, can take part in as many or as few of the ten laps as they like. Teams have a minimum of two and a maximum of five runners.
