Bob & Ruby
To me they were special one no more than the other
Just a Team of Sorrell Mules that really worked good together
To others they were just mules and not real pretty
But to me they were handsome and proud and just plain spiffy
They did everything I ever ask and never baulked
But ask them to do something stupid and well, they might run off
But we got along, and they seem to understand just fine
That driving those mules, I got rid of a lot of problems, one mile at a time.
They were always loyal and sure enough true
Can’t say that about most people, folks will sure let you down
But ole Bob and Ruby well, they were always sound.
Some folks have Dogs some have cats, some have Rabbits, hell some have rats
I’ll stick with my Mules and just be fine
Getting rid of them ole problems, one mile at a time
You see we worry and fret over most anything
Money and weather and when the grass isn’t green
But Ole Bob and Ruby see they don’t really care
Just keep them happy and they will sure enough shine
Fixing them problems one mile at a time
