A Quick ‘Q & A’ with The Aris
Q: Where did the idea to do trivia come from? A: Aris Xenarios started making trivia experiences for friends and family in his spare time and on one of these occasions, local comedian Arianne Tong was playing! She never forgot about it, and then asked him if he wanted to team up and try it out at a bar. They’ve been unstoppable since!
Q: What kinds of trivia is it? A: We are the Chex mix of trivia. That means we question everything that relates to pop culture. Many people say ‘I don’t like trivia,’ which we softly interpret as ‘I don’t like feeling stupid.’ It’s a fair feeling since most trivia nights are solely built for brainiacs (perhaps with photographic memories?!) Not our trivia. We make trivia accessible to all by testing knowledge of pop culture - movies, music, television, and other shared experiences - as well as games and challenges that are sensory. Plus, final jeopardy so everybody has a shot to win it all at the end even if they weren’t killing it for the entire game.
Q: What makes your trivia better than others in the GTA? A: There are so many trivia nights in this city of 3 million people, and most of them are fun and entertaining but what really sets us apart is our personality and production value. We really care that you have a great time, meet people, and want to come back every time we play. We weren’t expecting so many groups of friends to consistently commit to playing our trivia, but often times it feels like a family get together with so many recurring teams and friendly competition.
Q: Where do you host trivia? A: We host trivia all over the city and always on the lookout for new spaces to liven up! We have monthly shows at Sidestreet Bar, Kensington Brewing Co., and Soho House - plus, we regularly host corporate team building events for companies like Ubisoft, Adaptavist, and more!
