I just got the gallery back from Morgan and Dominic’s wedding at the Pickering Barn, and it brings the biggest smile to my face! Morgan and I went to school together growing up - and when I say we went to school together, I mean all the way from kindergarten through high school! Walking in to her wedding was kind of like walking in to a mini high school reunion, and it really was a blast. It was a day filled with so much joy and laughter - I mean, there was even a piñata. Do I need to say more?

I believe I have always been quite clear with my brand, but given recent events, I want to make sure there is no room for confusion.

Hanna Burdick Events celebrates all love, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, religion, ability, or race. It always has and it always will. I promise I will continue to show up for my fellow LGBTQ+ community and the many other communities who feel unseen and unsafe in the wake of this political nightmare, and I promise I will continue to showcase the unconditional love that this world has to offer. It’s out there, even if doesn’t feel like it in this moment (I get it).

Sending love to all families like mine unsure of what your future holds. You are not alone - we stand together.

Coming at you with a spooky wedding fun fact in the name of Halloween! I read recently that the tradition of bridesmaids was created originally to ward off vengeful spirits from the bride on her wedding day! The bridesmaids would dress in matching dresses and veils as the bride to confuse evil spirits, and would even carry “bouquets” of garlic and herbs to help fend them off. Obviously, as most traditional wedding practices, the tradition has evolved into what it is today - having a group of your people stand with you as you enter the next phase in your life with your one and only!

If you’re looking for a unique seating chart idea, this is it!

This insanely beautiful flower wall was not only aesthetic AF, but it also served as the seating chart for the reception! Each bud vase had a tiny tag tied around it with a guest’s name and table number! Guests were asked to collect their vase from the wall before dinner and place it in the center of their table, where the collective bud vases would then become the centerpieces! Guests and vendors alike would NOT stop talking about this gorgeous idea, and I absolutely understand why.

Kelsey and Taha are both fellow WSU alumni (Go Cougs!), but didn’t meet until after they both graduated! Since they now live out of state but decided to host their wedding here, they wanted to make sure they had someone who would be able to help them work out the logistics of their ceremony and execute their vision, and I was more than happy to help!

My biggest advice for successful detail shots is to make sure your coordinator has all of the components for the flat lays at the beginning of the day, so they can hand them off to the photographer as needed! Some examples of things to bring to your wedding that can be included in these photos are:

✨Wedding-day jewelry or cuff links
✨Wedding shoes
✨Perfume or cologne bottles
✨Vow books
✨Rings
✨Wedding invites

As someone who has been going to the Seattle Aquarium since I was a little girl, I’ve been dying to work a wedding there ever since I found out that was even a thing. When Daniel and Andrew reached out and shared that it was their venue, I was ECSTATIC. They had their ceremony on the pier outside, and the weather was so perfect in the way it only can be right before a massive storm. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the exhibits (and an otter feeding!) during cocktail hour, before dinner and dancing in front of the big fish tank as thunder and lightning boomed outside. Sharing some black + white photos from this day, knowing full well I’ll be sharing 294847 more in the weeks to come 💕

Officially adding Heronswood Garden to my list of favorite venues! Walking through the gardens was magical, and they created the perfect backdrop for Alyssa and Mitchell’s wedding day. Guests started in the garden for a stunning ceremony (complete with some of the most beautiful vows I’ve ever heard), before moving under the tent for the reception, filled with incredible food and insane dancing. I can’t wait to share more from this day, because it’s one I’ll be thinking about for a long time to come!

So you have an uneven number in your wedding party… don’t stress! It is much more common than you probably realize, and is not something you need to worry about. If you’re concerned about how it will work logistically with your ceremony, you’ve got options!

✨ Have everyone in your wedding party walk down by themselves, if having it look even is important to you!
✨Have everyone walk down in pairs, but consider having your maid of honor or best man walk down by themselves to signify their importance in your life!
✨Have three members of your wedding party walk down the aisle together! Whether it’s a bridesmaid escorted by two groomsman, a groomsmen escorting two bridesmaids, or three of your besties walking down arm-in-arm… it all looks beautiful!

Someone please remind me to NEVER plan a move during wedding season and one of the hottest weekends of the year ever again. 😅 I know I’m good, but I don’t know that I’m THAT good. Am I happy it’s over and we can now settle in? Yes. Do I know where any of my socks or my hairdryer is? No.

Luckily, I received the gallery for Bre and Kevin’s wedding over the weekend as well, and it perked me right up! Nothing energizes me more than reminiscing over my clients’ beautiful weddings! When Molly and Ben inquired with me, they described their wedding vibe as subdued rainbow fairytale. As big gamers, they said that rather than dancing, they wanted an escape room-themed scavenger hunt to be the focus of the reception, giving guests a chance to explore the grounds and treehouses at the venue. Now, as someone who LOVES a unique or non-traditional wedding, I practically BEGGED them to let me help!

Due to rain, we moved the ceremony indoors last minute, and it turned out more beautiful than we could have hoped! I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason, and this gorgeous ceremony was meant to be! Guests dodged from station-to-station in search of answers to various puzzles, and it was everything. It was an honor to be there on such a fun day!

Today marks 2 years from my very first wedding, and the official start of Hanna Burdick Events!! 🥹 I still can’t believe I’m here - a real business owner, in an industry that I love and have endless passion for. Despite the countless weddings I’ve done since, it still makes me emotional.

I think about this wedding often. Megan and Lizzy hired me with nothing to go off of except a recommendation from their photographer and my bestie . “I have a friend who used to coordinate corporate events and now wants to start coordinating weddings… are you interested?” No reviews to look over, no photos or website to peruse… just a willingness to support my dream in getting off the ground. I was absolutely terrified, but so damn determined to make it the best day of their lives. And it was the best day, with the best couple ever who I’m now lucky enough to consider great friends. I am endlessly grateful to all of my clients who trust me to join their wedding-day team, but my first-year clients will always hold a special place in my heart for taking a chance on me. I am here today because of you!!!

As I dive head-first into my third season of weddings, I would like to take the opportunity to say thank you. This business has been one of the greatest joys and adventures of my life, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.

One thing I’m always asked during planning meetings, is what kind of signage is actually needed? With TikTok and Instagram and Pinterest, it can sometimes seem overwhelming with all the options out there. But you don’t need it all! I’ve compiled a list of the signage I think is needed versus what can be considered “extra”! And don’t forget, you don’t need to spend hundreds on signage! You can so often find newlyweds selling their old signage online, or you can create your own using programs like Canva! Going through all of my clients’ wedding galleries from 2023 to pull a photo was like walking down memory lane of the most special year.
