What a joy and honor it was to be part of Ashley and Carter’s beautiful wedding day! For this special occasion, we combined carefully sourced blooms with our own homegrown Wild and Blooming flowers. These were planned, planted, grown and nurtured specifically for this special day! Even in the August heat of Louisiana, these resilient florals held up great, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how everything came together!

🌺💐 Meet the Farmer 💐🌺 Hi everyone! I’m Karen Powell and I’m delighted to reintroduce myself to both new and familiar faces. If you’re new to our floral community, welcome! I grow flowers on a charming quarter-acre farm in sunny South Louisiana, where I live with my husband, my mom, my 2 younger kids, and our 2 cats and 3 dogs. As you can imagine, there’s never a dull moment around here!

I specialize in cultivating exquisite spring and fall flowers. While we take a brief respite in August to escape the heat, our commitment to growing stunning, local blooms remains unwavering.

I am passionate about nurturing locally grown flowers, which benefits both our community and the environment. I serve both florists and individuals, providing flowers for everyday occasions, holidays and special events. This fall, I’m especially excited about 2 weddings that are coming up-stay tuned for some beautiful photos.

Well, I’m officially retiring these work jeans. This is what flower farming really looks like. There’s no frolicking through the flower field in a pretty sundress over here!! Farming is hot, dirty work and you have to get used to that if you’re going to do it. I don’t mind!! I’ve enjoyed the dirt since I was a little kid. The flowers are worth it! 🌺💐😅🩷

Zinnias remind me of my grandmother. She always had lovely shrubs like gardenia and azalea growing in her yard. She would often cut some of the blooms and bring them inside. My grandparents had a big garden full of corn, beans, tomatoes and cucumbers. That was just part of life when you lived in the country. She would plant a long row of bright, beautiful zinnias in that garden just for cutting. These make me miss her and remember her at the same time. 🩷

It’s the time of year when I start thinking about fall and what I’d like to have blooming then. Seems weird to be thinking of cooler temps and fall colors when it’s hot as Hades outside. But, now is when I need to get those little seeds and plants into the ground. It’s a challenge, because it’s so hot that the little things just fry! So, here’s hoping for a cooler, rainy day to get going on fall flowers!!
