Tip Thursday // Get Creative to cut costs.

I get it - staying in budget is HARD, especially in today’s climate. Vendors work hard, and deserve what they charge.

BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative.

Perhaps you have a ceremony backdrop in mind - why don’t you move it behind your head table after? Just consider the distance, and who’s going to do this. (Or hire us!)

Perhaps you move your ceremony aisle floral to the base of your head table.

Don’t forget to have bouquets vases in place on your head table, to place after the ceremony for extra pizzazz. Pro-tip: these are placed across the entirety of the head table, NOT just in front of the ladies.

Talk with your decorator & florist (&planner) about what is possible 🌼

// Mistakes to avoid when planning your wedding //

💰 Not outlining your budget FIRST. Don’t rush into hiring a photographer and venue without first doing your research on what wedding cost. Outlining your guest list and budget is the first step, or you could end up in a world of hurt once you realize how much things add up.

📝 Inviting too many people - if you wouldn’t invite them to a dinner party, why are they invited to such an intimate celebration of your love? The guest list is the easiest way to decrease budget, so it’s okay to remember this isn’t a family reunion.

📢 Not communicating to important family members, especially moms and bridal party members. While this is indeed YOUR wedding, this is a big and exciting moment for others as well. Try to keep loved ones in the loop with little details so they feel involved. Or maybe hand over little tasks you don’t feel you have to do, such as welcome baskets or favors.

👰🏼Inviting too many people to your dress shopping appointments - don’t let there be too many cooks in the kitchen! You know yourself best, but often too many opinions can lead to more stress and decision fatigue.

💲Spending money on items that make no impact. We suggest to prioritize spending on items that elevate guests experience. Ie: paying for a shuttle as to avoid guests drinking and driving - that makes a difference! Paying for a sign that says “bar” when the bar is clearly there - that doesn’t make a difference. Don’t waste your resources.

📄Signing a contract without reading or understanding it.

💍Not spending enough time on your wedding ceremony - this is the heart of your wedding, my friends! Don’t just rush off to the next thing; it’s the reason you’re bringing all these humans together.

🥂Not hiring an independent wedding coordinator - having a venue coordinator is great, yes! It’s so wise to invest in having a human advocate solely for YOU, not just your venue. You and your loved ones deserve to be guests, and not just hosts on your wedding day.

My name is Belle, I am North Dakota raised and grew up here in Bismarck. I credit myself as a bit of a Bismarck local, meaning my memories growing up consists of cruising main street with a big boy pizza burger in hand, attending the few Wizards basketball games back in the day, and sitting at the shoe department at Herberger’s on a Saturday! I love Bismarck and the people in it and all it has to offer.

I grew up with a VERY large family and have been witness to many milestones for individuals in their lifetime. Weddings, grad parties, birthdays, baby showers! Being included in special moments overflows my passion cup. No better feeling than that shared excitement over celebrating loved ones.

On my personal time I like to spend it reading, shopping, being outside, or gracing my husband with my sense of humor and spending time with my three beautiful daughters! A phrase I live by is “Whatever you do in life, bring Joy with you.”

Design your wedding before choosing your venue. // Woah, hold up - I shouldn’t choose my venue right away at that 1 year mark?!
•
As important as getting your venue locked in ASAP is, we highly suggest brainstorming the vibe of your big day first.
•
This will prevent you from working overtime trying to get your aesthetic to shine through at a venue that quite frankly, doesn’t match. It’ll save you time and overwhelm in the long run. A venue should solidify your vision, not distract from it.

Today’s wedding tip is all about stationeryyy

▫️ Here’s a big one - count HOUSEHOLDS, not guests.

Inviting 560 people to your wedding? (We did LOL) but believe it or not, we only needed 250 invites. Be sure to not overestimate here!

▫️When to send?
Send save the dates 8-10 months out & invites 2-3 months out. Not doing save the dates? That’s OK, I didn’t either! Send invites at the 3 month mark.

▫️ RSVP deadlines
Be sure to know when the caterer, decorator, & your planner (& anyone else) needs the final count by, and make an RSVP deadline based on this. Doing a seating chart? You’ll need sufficient time to finalize this!

▫️Get it photographed!
Don’t forget to bring your pretty invites with on your wedding day!

▫️Here’s what to include on your invite :
- The hosts’ names
- A request to attend the wedding
- The couples’ names
- Date & time
- Locations (name of the venues & addresses)
- Reception info (location & time)
- Dress code (optional)
- Wedding website URL (optional to include on separate insert)
- RSVP deadline (optional)

Are you writing your own vows for your wedding? This may seem obvious, but be sure to put them at the altar before the ceremony starts.

Would you prefer to share your feelings with your new spouse privately? Here are some ideas:
▫️read them back to back before the first look
▫️read separately for the videographer to capture
▫️share with each other in a private sunset session
▫️share with each other the day/evening before
